COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Simply amazing. The coffee aroma is superbly balanced by the roasted chocolate malt flavour . The Appearance is as a great Imperial stout should be, deep and viscous. I love the smoothness of this beer evidenced by the silky mouthfeel.

Bottle. Black pour, small brown head. Aroma of roasted coffee and milk chocolate. Taste of roasted coffee, dark cacao and bitter hops, dry bitter finish, but somehow also fruity with a little cherry. Warm glowing aftertaste. Solid coffee stout, real tasty.

The Péché Mortel opens with an amazing aroma, drawing fond memories of a fine espresso on a Sunday morning as the first waft massages your senses and tempts you to taste it. Deeply coloured and thick with an almost oily texture, the Mortel is akin more to a spirit then a beer. The first sip assails the taste buds, reinforcing the coffee scent with a deliciously complex coffee and stout blend, underpinned by sweet sugars that are almost undetected as you savour the stronger notes. Worth visiting multiple times on cold, wet nights, to draw out fond memories and warm the spirit. Frangimus

341ml bottle served around 8 degrees in a snifter: Pours like motor oil, pitch black robe topped by a finger of copper head showing nice lacing. Retention is low and the head fades to an uneven porous layer. The nose is fresh and addictive with espresso, roasted coffee beans and burnt toasts. On the tongue, you get the same torrefied blends found in the nose with sweet notes of cocoa. An intense bitterness then wraps the tongue and sets the pace for a super long finish. This Imperial Stout feels extremely dense and robust and shows and oily body. This is an awesome dessert brew to pair with black forest chocolate cake or anything sweet and daring. You could well let this one spend 2 or 3 years in the cellar to let it mature.
