Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

It poured a pitch black liquid with a small light brown foam that left some lacing. It had a strong smell of primarily coffee, but also chocolate, toffee and an interesting smell that I couldnt quite distinguish, probably related to the added coffee. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy with a thick body and medium bitterness. The bitterness was more of a coffee and dark chocolate bitterness then a hoppy bitterness. It had a strong taste of coffee but also chocolate, coconut and something burned and roasted. A fantastic beer! It felt complex and interesting to drink, perfect to sit and sip at for a while. I’m not a big fan of coffee and don’t normally drink it, but this was really nice. Definitely recommended and at this price it’s an absolute steal (34 SEK at Systembolaget). Just as with Rigor Mortis I hope to get a couple of extra bottles.

Corpo pesado, tendendo a licoroso e baixa carbonatação.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pours a pitch Black with a Nice, big, tan head. Aroma is roasty, malty, lots of chocolate, coffee, and... A bit of leather and horse. Oh well. Taste is sweet, roasty bitter, slightly hoppy, Fairly fruity coffee. Medium full, velvety body and an average carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, booze, very nice. Appearance is black, light brown head, thick. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, bitter dark roast coffee and it’s very nice. Mouthfeel is a touch thin, but the carbonation is great. Overall, I enjoy it but the mouthfeel could use some work.

Half finger creamy mocha head, fades to a thin blanket. Jet back. Unbelievably rich espresso and dark chocolate aroma...beautiful. Flavour is so rich and creamy. Big espresso, dark and milk chocolate, light toffee, cream, lingering coffee with slight alcohol heat. Creamy med-high mouthfeel. Possibly one of the best imperial coffee stouts available. So rich and dangerously drinkable. Love this beer!

Flaska från systembolaget. Mörk, nästan svart med en del skum. Doftar mycket kaffe, lite rostat, lite choklad. Detsamma återkommer i smaken, med en väl döljd, svagt värmande alkohol. God!

Massor med kaffe rostad malt bitter kakao. Soya och nästan lite rökta sharkuterier. Mycket välbalanserad och len.

Pours a dark brown/black color but has a nice thick, creamy head and nice lacing. Smells of cocoa nibs and coffee. Tastes like unsweetened milk chocolate. A very rich beer, and an excellent one at that!

Poured into a tulip glass showing pitch black with a finger of latte foam. The nose shows a lot of intense dark coffee. The palate shows a lot of roast coffee, extremely smooth, light bodied, roasted coffee and light hoppiness on finish.
