3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Belle couleur noir, généreuse mousse, goût de café dès la première gorgée. Une amertume du début à la fin. Café, chocolat que l’on retrouve pendant toute la dégustation

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown color with reddish highlights and a medium sized beige head. The aroma has a nice burst of milk and dark chocolate with roasted malts, very porter like. The flavor has more dark chocolate and roasted malts, later the earthy bitterness comes in. Not a ton of hop character to this. a bit of a mineral character to the flavor. Not bad, but If this is a black IPA I would like to see more hops.

Ordentliches black mit einer interessanten Mischung aus Röstaromen und grasigen Momenten. Dick, relativ komplex und durchaus ausbalanciert. Nicht schlecht.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
11.5oz bottle, from Party Source for $4.79. Numbers notched in the label are 1-1 (who knows what that means). ABV is labeled 6.5%. Very dark brown color, close to black. Clear red around the edges. Thin off-white khaki head. Good retention. Leaves decent bits and dots of lace. Looks good. Good dark chocolate, roast aromas. Some light coffee, dark fruit flavors... Like juniper or bush berries. Hint of licorice. Some light, old-tasting hop taste. Who knows how old this is, but it doesnt taste fresh. Moderate sweet taste. Light to moderate bitter. Lighter carbonation. Moderate to bigger body. Lightly slick texture. Longer aftertaste. Decent black IPA, but I feel like it would be much better fresh, kind of pointless if not fresh. The only hop character I get from this is some light earthiness, light spiciness.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 mL bottle from Beer Trappe, Lexington. Pours a dark brown color with a thin frothy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of roast, earth, sunflower seeds, herbal, piney hops and a hint of chocolate. The taste is bitter roast, bitter resin, herbal hops, some nuttiness and a bit of bright citrus in the finish. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness. Fairly bold compared to the Americans and their American invention. Solid beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I nice mix of the IPA and porter. I find at first it’s a porter and then at the end it has the floral hops. The bitterness is over 1/2 the flavour. Sadly I don’t understand the alchemy of the style.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from trade with BenH - many thanks to you! Pours out in a deep black colour with very low head and thin body. Aroma of hops and dark ripe berries. Taste of fresh, dark hops, nuts, berries, acid, barley, bread and spruce. Strange bitter finish with some metallic elements. Easy to drink but not that delicious as some other Black IPAs.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Slightly strange aroma, I’d had a few by this point so can’t remember what it was that i smelt. Flavour was a bit muddied with no clarity of flavour. OK but not a patch on the Alechemy Onyx I had the same night.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, thanks Mikey. Black with pale tan head. Aroma of resinous pine and a touch of roastiness, nice. Taste is a bit odd, meaty, gravy, biscuit, resinous, little roastiness. Quite bitter. Bit odd.
