3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
341 mil bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass. Deep brown-black, with a nice mocha head. A nice blend of rich dark malts and resinous/pine hops, grapefruit and C-hops, dark and hoppy. Medium-full body with velvety, creamy effervescence. More dark malt than the nose, roasted and almost burnt, fairly similar hop notes of grapefruit, pine and resin, a bit of other citrus, pretty nice for the style, in my opinion; dry with good bitterness and a long, C-hop and roasted malt finish. Great integration.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark black with an of white/yellow head that dissipates quickly. Biscuity aroma with hints of coffee. All malt palate with a lingering chocolate bitterness. Lacking in hops for an IPA but an otherwise a very nice beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours dark brown with a yellowish head. Aroma is rather mixed. Dark malt. Hop. Herby. Med body or better. Flavor is chocolate with some earthy "greenish" hop. It’s pretty bitter. Chocolate persists. Quite an unusual ale. A bit off the usual Cascadian versions. Nice.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours with a very deep brown hued body with a medium sized off-white head that lasts and leaves some good lace as well. Aromas are of baked bread and chocolate. All malt. Mild herbal citrus, but mostly toasty and biscuity, low esters. Smells good, but not IPA like. Flavors are bitter, mild chocolate. American stout like, but a bit more bitter than usual and a bit metallic. Mild chocolate tones with a very nice biscuity base malt character. Next to no hop flavor other than the massive bitterness and a light herbal note. Medium bodied and slightly off dry. Herbal and leather. Not all that hoppy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 12C. Black with a light tan head. Aroma of mocha, molasses, pine, grapefruit. Sweet with dark sugars, some roastiness, mocha, pine, licorice. Some earthy hazelnuts come through after a while. Solid bitterness. May have lost a bit of hop punch, but enough going on and has character and pleasing balance.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
