This is a stout that is perfectly married to a black IPA. You can taste both. The black IPA at the start then a real stout at the end. Beautiful!

On tap at DdC. Certainly one of the best Imperial Black IPA I have ever had (top 10 of all time). Rich and extremely creamy, and the lacing is perfect. If you have a chance to be at Dieu du Ciel and this beer is on the menu, try it!

On tap @ DDC (Montréal). Black with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt along with coffee, light smoke, chocolate, herbal notes and hops. Taste is slightly sweet with roasted malt, smoke, herbal notes, light resinous presence, alcohol and light to moderate bitter finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel and dry finish. Good Imperial Black IPA. Drinkable despite 9% abv.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours an opaque black body with a lasting beige creamy head. Complex malty/hoppy aroma with roasty, chocolate, and woody hints. Its rich malty/hoppy taste carries grainy, herbal, roasted coffee, and chocolate notes. Ends with a long, moderately warming bittersweet finish. Awesome!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of very roasted, charred malts, hop spices, light citrus. Flavor of dark roasted malts, chocolate, roasted nuts including peanut butter, and a bitter hop finish. Tasty beer, it is a hoppy dark ale. Slightly heavy palate but not boozy. 7/4/8/4/16 (3.9/5)

Cask (Hivernale): Poured a deep black color ale with a small dark foamy head. Aroma consists of powerful green hops with some dry roasted malt notes also perceptible. Taste is a good balanced mix between some powerful green hops with some citrus and resinous notes mix with some dry roasted malt notes with light floral coffee notes and no residual sugar. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very nice mix of huge hoppy notes without too much bitterness.
