Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. Massive head, one half inch is retained, and I did not pour it myself. Coffee aroma. I liked that it was understated coffee taste with a significant hopping. Perfect lace, very drinkable.

(hiver 2006-07)

On tap at the Blind Tiger. Pours a clear ruby tinged brown with a thin beige to tan head. Big roast notes and a lot of sesame oil on the nose. More sesame and roast, medium bodied. Slightly sweet and nutty, loads of toast. Very nice. Super stuff really. Interesting and wonderfully toasty and roasty.

Tap at BT. Pours a rich deep dark black almsot purple highlihgts with a thin lasting tan head. Aroma is massive rich chocolate malts, dark chocolate, earthy, ashy, anise, toffee, tobacco, light fruitiness- maybe a hint of black cassis? Flavor is earhty, herbal, big montrous chocolate, oils, toast, tar, medium fruitiness with some red wine hint then for how big it seemed in the flavor- and even with some medium sweetness in the middle- this one dries out in a second- the finish is bone dry and almost bordering on astringent - it dries the mouth out so much- still pretty damn good.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Nose is coffee and roasted malts. Classic porter , big and rich but has a thin ness to the body that distinguishes this from a stout. Finish is dry and bitter. Nice

Draught at Dieu du Ciel brewpub. Pours a very dark brown with red hues and an average size creamy tan -- looks pretty good. Decent lacing on the glass. Mild, sweet aroma is roasty along with some coffee, a hint of hops and some dark fruit. Nice roasty flavour, slightly creamy/lactic along with some mild leafy hops and a dry bitter finish.Average to medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. A very good Porter.

Draught - April 22, 2009 - at Dieu du Ciel. Clear, refractive, but very deep chestnut colour with an average creamy lasting tan head. Lovely little beer - solid roast nutty aroma, with dry cocoa and a hint of cream - the taste delivers - sweet roast nutty malt backed up with plenty of cream and hints of mint and an appropriate light dry herbal bitterness - no alcohol to speak of - medley of flavours, really shifts around on the palate. Creamy mouthfeel, soft but average-bodied - frothy low-level carbonation, not sharp at all, more like a frappacchino - finishes with combination of light cocoa sweetness and subtle herbal bitterness - a bit sticky on the lips afterwards - damnit these guys make solid stouts and porters!!
