| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Fantastic Dark brown pour. Aroma is sweet, dried fruit, overripe banana, some breadiness, yeast and a bit of booze. Flavor is intense raisin bread soaked in dark candi and sweet booze. Id like to put one down for another year or so and see if it softens, but this is very tastey. Warms as it goes down. Great sipper by DDC rane (503), Nibe, Denmark
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Bottle. Wonderful beer, storms into my top 10. I´m quite surprised about the relative low ratings.
Red brown with medium pale brown head. Aroma sweetm drued fruits, dates, figs, after a while more and more licorice. Taste much the same sweet malt, dates, figs, and again licorice after a while. A little hopp bitterness and a very long lasting finish. I doubt I would be able to tell this beer apart from Rochefort or Westvleterns quads in a blindtasting.
I had a Chimay Bleu in the weekend and this one is so much better. TeamTrappist (388), jericho, New York, USA

Really nice carbed mouthful. Nice candied sugars. Very drinkable. Nice take on the style just a slight hint of the alcohol but I really like this one plovmand (1688), Helsinge, Denmark

Very fruity aroma with notes of yeast, ripe fruit, caramel, raisins and dark molasses. Flavour is spicy, malty and very fruity. Notes of raisins, light alcohol, yeast, dark sugar and chocolate. Lots of things going on. A lovely Abt! MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 16, 2009 Bottle purchased at Buckeye Beer Engine about....oh.... a long time ago. The pour is a nice dark hazy brown with a thin cream head. Aroma is a slightly spicy brown sugar scent, loads of malt and none of that banana-y yeast scent of the traditional Belgian quad’s. The flavor is pretty damn rich, lots of soft chocolate notes, nothing too overdone, and all this sweet caramelized sugar flavor to it, without a hint of burnt notes or anything to spoil it. dchmela (1437), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 15, 2009 341ml bottle. Nice brown pour with a thin white head. Sweet malt, dark fruit, some citrus and, dare I say, I caught a hint of vanilla in the the aroma. Big body, sweet malt, dark fruit, brown sugar, some citrus and an alcohol bite on the end. Really good brew. brewolf (40), Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 13, 2009 Ruby brown hue with a nice creamy tan head. Smell is superbly rich with notes of dates, and sweet hints of dark berries. Taste is nicely complex with malt, butterscotch, caramel, brown sugar, and figs. Abv is well hidden, and the texture is smooth. Overall, I think this is my favorite stateside abt. I must also mention the exquisite bottle art ... certainly adds to the ambience of the experience. Definitely a repeater.
