COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong brown ale inspired by the beer brewed by Belgian Trappist monks. Very little bitterness, this beer has intense malty and sweet flavours, mixed with the taste of chocolate and caramel. It presents complex red fruit and spice flavours due to the type of yeast that is used during the brewing process. This beer is at its best only after it has aged for six months. The Rigor Mortis are complex beers designed and brewed with patience and care in the tradition of the great Belgian Abbey beers.

Rigor Mortis Abt is brewed only once a year, and is sold in April until stocks last.

Had on bottle at pizza port’s strong ale fest. A dark brown ruddy pour with a large head. Heavy malt crossed with strong belgian yeast, yum!

A deep red beer with a small orange head. The aroma is sweet and dominated by berries - of which cowberries stand out. The flavor is also sweet with notes of wood, cowberries, and cranberries.

Had to have this one for it’s name, it just sounds evil!! Pours a dark burgundy with a light tan head with not much retention but good lacing. Aromas of dark fruit, mostly what seemed to me like concorde grapes, with the flavor being much of the same but slightly smoky. Very smooth, I’ll have to try it again sometime!!"

Bottle at the brewpub
Mahogany color, thin off-white head and small lacing. The nose is strong with alcohol, fairly nutty with some caramel malts and a bit of cardamom or wet dog, I can’t tell. The flavor is lightly hinted towards cardboard but malty and rich at the same time. The finish is mild, not too impressive.

Pours brown with some floaties present when held up to the light. Smells of a Ye Olde Pepper Mill with some very nice chocolate and cherry notes. Tastes of pluots, raisins, blueberries, rasberries and soda bread. Very complex and well developed.
