4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pros: Really nice look. Nice layer of yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Fully formed head lasts well. Flavor is terrifically extracted, loaded with flavor. Rich all around, it even finishes well. Notes of chocolate, pit fruit and raisin. Excellent mouth feel. Well hidden alcohol.
Cons: Aroma is muted, but this could be due to the lack of bottle age.
A beautiful bottling of ale, no doubt about it. One I plan on aging extendedly. This is one of the best examples of the style to come out of North America.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Colonial Spirits.
Pours a slightly hazy deep chestnut with a decent sized but short lived off white head. Massive chunks of something floating in this viscous liquid. Aromas are heavy on the fruit. Dark stone fruits with bits of pineapple atop a brown sugary caramel base with just a touch of alcohol. The flavor follows the aroma. Lots of tropical fruitiness with a solid brown sugary base to back it up. Pleasant warming alcohol. Medium body with a somewhat drying finish. Light level of carbonation. Nice sipper once you get past the appearance. This may be an older bottle, its got notches that are off centered from the numbers so I can’t tell.

2013 vintage on tap at Churchkey. Dark and fruity, slight alcohol warmth in the aroma along with some plums and raisins. Taste is smooth and more dried fruit sweetness with mild alcohol warmth on the finish. Easy to drink, but best to sip and savor.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
341ml bottle served in a tulip glass.
A: First of all, perfect beer art. Dieu du Ciel makes, IMHO, the most beautiful beer labels ever! Pours a dark amber to brown color forming a small beige beige head which dissipates quickly leaving a tons of lacings in the glass. A thin layer remains for a long time on the top
S: Strong notes of toffee, roasted malts, caramel malts. Candy sugar, vanilla and dark fruits, mainly raisins and plums
T: Sweet upfront. Strong toffee and candy sugar. Dark fruits, notes of vanilla, Belgian-like earthy and bready yeasts. End is light bitter
M: Heavy and creamy body. A little bit molasses. Roasted malts, biscuity aftertaste
O: Very drinkable. One more great beer from Dieu du Ciel

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
"woo hoo! really the only quad in Canada? candi and brown sugar and a touch of chocolate dominate the nose. purty seemingly black but red tinged brown in light. taste similar to the aroma...complex, rich, fruity, but not too sweet. the ridiculously smooth and warming body is the forte. well done. one of my favorites from the great white north."

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep brown with medium tan head. Nose is chocolate and dark fruits. Aromas are roasted malts, chocolate, wood, dark fruit, raisins, liquorice and some spices. Strong body, medium carbonation. Long bitter and roasty finish, enhanced by a sweet and fruity touch. Great brown ale that reminds me of Belgian Rochefort or even Westvleteren.
