Bottled at PBF. Clea amber, no head. Hevy caramel aroma. Sweet and full bodied. Intensely warming brandy with ever present caramel. Evident alcohol comes through more is a salty finish. The caramel and syrup gets a little bit in the way, but still a very enjoyable beer.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2013 2013-03-16, bb 2012-09-30, 3½ years old, 7-5-7-4-15=38 Dark chestnut color, hazy, with creamy head. Light aroma of malt and caramel, lighter impression of tobacco and vanilla; mild but with some elegance and interest. Good body strength; caramel flavor with a touch of fudge, moderate residual sweetness; the bitterness is quite strong; strangely it has a light dusty side too; the alcohol perception is just a bit high; the final shows some roastiness. Good beer, very well balanced, but lacking of some Belgian grace; I wouldn’t age it further.
2009-12-23, bb 2012-09-30, 6-5-7-3-14=35 Dark amber color, hazy; generous head. The aroma has fruity yeast, fudge and dirty water; for the good or for the bad, the aroma is not persistent. The body is quite strong, surely with character; it has caramel flavor, with just a minimal residual sweetness, but at least with a respectable degree of sugar stickiness. The bitterness is decisive, and high for a Belgian style; actually in the end it’s possible to perceive some more roasted malts and the alcohol punch. Another drinkable but unimpressive offer from Dieu du Ciel, not able to provide emotions. Have to try it aged one year.
