COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Strong brown ale inspired by the beer brewed by Belgian Trappist monks. Very little bitterness, this beer has intense malty and sweet flavours, mixed with the taste of chocolate and caramel. It presents complex red fruit and spice flavours due to the type of yeast that is used during the brewing process. This beer is at its best only after it has aged for six months. The Rigor Mortis are complex beers designed and brewed with patience and care in the tradition of the great Belgian Abbey beers.

Rigor Mortis Abt is brewed only once a year, and is sold in April until stocks last.

Pours a deep burgundy with tan head and great lacing. Aroma is sweet malt with dark berries and caramel. Mouth is deep and warming. Taste has berries, a little chocolate, light yeast, and citrus. Very smooth and sticky. Great beer. I think it reminds me of a less complex version of the Abby de Rocs Bruin.

This is definitely not a beer for everybody but I like ’em strong and malty. Prepare from some beautiful, dark aromas of toffee, caramel, rum, and raisins. You will absolutely get a big nostril burn from the booze on this one. The flavor doesn’t disappoint. Sugar cane, rum, and booze, booze, booze! One of my first choices for a fireside beer. You can’t drink it too fast, it kicks back.

Bottle, thnx to Duffman. 2010 vintage. Pours a murky brown beer with a small off white head on top. Aroma has massive vineous notes, grapes and loads of other red fruits going on. Flavor is very sweet, boozy and very vineous again. Loads of Port notes and mellowed out alcohol. Definitely can taste the age on this one. Soft carbonation going, medium short, sweet aftertaste. Could be a bit thicker but overall a very nice quad.

Brown pour with off white head. Big aroma of prunes, toffee, coffee cake, red fruit. Flavour has all the same notes. Light bitterness to cut the sweetness. Alcohol provides some warmth and lingers with sweet notes. Quite good.

Aroma is dark fruits , clove and abbey yeast. Some Belgian sugar notes aswell. Taste is quite fruit with some sweet malt character and slight liquor taste on tip. Clear amber body has a pearl head that retains well.
