Blond like a ray of sunlight, crowned by thick foam and sustained by a pronounced effervescence, this beer is the delight of all our customers! Its bouquet is the result of a large array of floral and fruity esters which are complemented by a light and delicate fragrance of malts and hops. The first draught reveals a full-bodied beer with a malty sweetness and a warm touch of alcohol. A hint of acidity is discovered in the aftertaste, but it is quickly overcome by the sharp bitterness of the hops. The Rigor Mortis are complex beers designed and brewed with patience and care in the tradition of the great Belgian Abbey beers.

Aged for one year and three months, bottle. Cloudy golden color with a thin head. Citrus and yeast aroma. Sweet, citrus and yeast flavor. Sweet finish that leaves a chalky feeling. Medium body and liquorous mouthfeel.

An interesting mix of oranges and lightly roasted malt through out leading to a mildly spicy rich malty finish.

Sweet, flowery, oranges, caramel and alcohol in the nose. Dark amber colour with full white head that lasts nicely. Sweet, slightly fruity, malty up front with a nice dry finish and a hint of alcohol. Not overly complex but very enjoyable. Good strong carbonation and effervescence. Bottle #31 dated '2003' (for on premises consumption only).

Pours a copper blonde color with w thin white head. Aroma of sweet bready Belgian malts and some alcohol. Body starts sweet and thick, but finishes dry and mostly alcoholic. Still has good complexity and a pleasant flavor.

Definitely a little hoppy for the style but it works well. It is a clean example ripe for sipping but with the fairly high bitterness it comes closer to Orval than it does to duvel, or westmalle. Fairly pronounced alcohol flavour and heat.

Luminescent gold with a big fluffy head. Pretty sweet, has something of a white wine, a bit honeyish. Well done.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2006 Coriander, wit smell on an alcohol promontory...Robust flowers appear in an endless yeast field...Dispersed oranges onto the horizon and buzzing, sticky honey bees...Picturesque white grapes and fat malt...

A recent April 2006 batch had way more banana yeast character than before, and appeared to be more authentic than the usual DDC Belgian ale...Perhaps a yeast change? Anyway, this is another DDC ale which seems to have improved...
