Commercial Description:
Blond like a ray of sunlight, crowned by thick foam and sustained by a pronounced effervescence, this beer is the delight of all our customers! Its bouquet is the result of a large array of floral and fruity esters which are complemented by a light and delicate fragrance of malts and hops. The first draught reveals a full-bodied beer with a malty sweetness and a warm touch of alcohol. A hint of acidity is discovered in the aftertaste, but it is quickly overcome by the sharp bitterness of the hops. The Rigor Mortis are complex beers designed and brewed with patience and care in the tradition of the great Belgian Abbey beers.

On tap at the brewpub. I’m not sure I’ve had a Tripel on tap before? Served in a tulip. Lovely dark hazy yellow, very creamy white head - really long lasting. Lovely Tripel aroma - strong alcohol, malt, tons of spice, hint of coriander and a candy sweetness. Assertive. Strong taste - lots of malt, yet medium bodied without being syrupy (tough to do at this alcohol). Lovely kick of spice and alcohol that never burns. Quite simply one of the finest tripels I have ever had - holds its own with any world class tripel. After the cask IPA and Berliner Weisee, this was quite a session at Dieu De Ciel with blankboy and really a showcase of what they can do!

Excellante!!

Average in nearly every way for a tripel. In other words - I enjoyed he breadiness and rich aroma. A little more acidic that my preference, but the warm finish with a layer of hay is a nice close.

Draught (6 oz. sample) at Dieu du Ciel! Deep golden with a small white head. Aroma of sweet orange candy with backing notes of yeast and coriander. Soft body. Flavour is predominantly sweet, with orange notes as suggested by the aroma, some nice yeast complexity, and a herbal finish. Very nice.

My 1200th rating! On tap at the brewpub, visited June 23 2007 with a big group of friends (no fellow rateberrieans though). This is designated as 8% the night that I had it. Slightly hazy golden amber with a foamy white head displaying excellent retention and lace. Yeasty aroma, vaguely fruity and spicy. Semi-sweet palate with flavours of berries, citrus, bready-yeast, and sweet spices. Surprisingly light mouthfeel for the alcohol content. An approachable triple in my opinion.

[8%, snifter @ Dieu du Ciel] Almost clear, golden amber color. Slight malt presence in the aroma, sugary and sweet. Flavors are quite strong on the yeast character, with some strong sugary sweetness. Somewhat alcoholic finish. Nice DDC "house" character, however.
