strong and sour, odd interesting tripel. Not overly malty like so many of them are, interesting

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 glennmastrange (1886) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 5, 2012
Tap. Moderate malt and hop aromas of grain, flowers, perfume and lemon, light soap for the yeast, with hints of ripe pear and honey. Head is large, creamy, white with fair lacing and good legs and is mostly diminishing. Color is slightly hazy, which clears, amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, oily with a soft carbonation and a moderately alcoholic finish. Damn this was good. The alcohol is right up front but blends in well with the aromas and flavors.

Aroma is hops like an IPA beer and not much like an abbey tripel if you ask me. Has a dark orange body and okay head. Flavour is very hoppy with some malt, okay finish. It’s a decent blonde style, but far from a proper abbey tripel.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - DEC 14, 2010
Draft. Pours a hazy golden body with a white head and good head retention. Fruity Belgian hop tones. Citrus sweet and chewy initially. Big etoh note that furthers the fruit character and the spiciness from the yeast tones. Bit of drying from the hops and additionally from a spiced addition, pepper like in nature. V good.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - DEC 2, 2010
Tap at BT. I dont normally like many Tripels, but this one was pretty damn good. Pours a hazed bright golden with a nice white head- good lace. A roma is spicy phenolic belgian yeast- peppery, almsot clove, yet smooth and restrained- light doughy pils malts, cracker, some yeasty musty notes, medium fruitiness- some pear, slight lemon, some grass. Flavor is biscuit, doughy - real fresh crisp crackery pilsner/fresh pale malts, phenolic, yeasty, light spice, pepper, medium sweetness in the middle, and dries out nicely in the end. Very well made- restrained and enjoyable. mostly on the peppery side- but seemed fresh. Good stuff.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Metalchopz (1748) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 6, 2010
Enjoyed at the brewpub itself, November 2008. Poured a clear golden-copper colour with a nice head, good retention, but no carbonation. Had a Belgian yeast smell with different malts and cereal. Mild milky scent. The mouthfeel was creamy, but dry, and full-bodied. Flavours that were fruity, and of grain malts that are very well-blended. A very nice tripel for those who do not like it cloudy. Nicely brewed.

BQ2010. Sampled on Draft at the Brewpub. Pours a nice hazy, golden body topped with a white, creamy head and good lacing. Aroma is pleasantly fruity, sweet malt, flowery, and herbal notes. Taste is relatively mild. It is mainly fruity (peach), and has some hints of alcohol. Good Tripel.
