NobleSquirrel (1100), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 12, 2008 Bottle from Sams Clybourn. Very attractive pinkish red color. Nose is a touch tangy and very floral. Im a big fan of jamaica and this is a good riff on that lovely beverage. A little caramelized with a clean wheat flavor. Minimal spice, nice acidic bite. Imminently drinkable and very nice. Tasty. jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Dec 11, 2008 Pretty tasty looking deep red pour. Floral and fruity aroma. Leaves a sweet red fruit flavor that lasts for quite some time. Spicy up front and a slight caramel mid palate flavor. The finish is sweet and fruity. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Dec 7, 2008 Bottle. Rosey amber pour... not much head. Aroma is fruity and perfumey malt. Same fruit in the flavor, kinda odd tasting cause it tastes more like perfume than fruit. Sort of grainy dry, lightly tart finish. Odd beer. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 29, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a light pink with a thin, off white head. Tart aroma with heavy perfume notes. Flavor is interesting. Grassy notes blend with a bit of tartness. Some berry flavors near the finish. Decent amount of carbonation. Nice beer. FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 28, 2008 Very floral and perfume smelling as I pour this beer into my 25cl tulip glass. The beer forms a three-finger thick, pink/beige tinged, off-white colored head. The beer is a bright red color that shows a somewhat hazy, deeply red tinged, gold color when held up to the light. Aromas of wheat add a nice graininess and even a touch of tartness, there is also a light, tart, berry like note here as well as the floral / perfume aromatic notes.
The beer tastes tart from both the wheat and the hibiscus; it finishes with a touch more tartness that lingers a bit on the tongue. A persistent carbonation adds some zippy texture that, along with the fairly light body, make this quite a quaffable brew. The wheat contributes a grassy grain note as well as a whole-grain cracker flavor and dryness. A touch of berry flavors in the finish, a light herbal note, a touch of pot pourri, perhaps a hint of lavender and even a touch of honey (though this beer is pretty dry, so it is not sweetness that makes me think of this last note).
This is a nice refreshing beer, I definitely like the hibiscus addition as it meshes well with the base beer. I will admit that it is a bit hard to pull any particular Belgian yeast character out of this beer, so in that sense this might not be the most complex beer, but I still like it. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Nov 28, 2008 Sparse light pink head of very fine bubbles. Very floral and fruity aroma with some rose and sour cherry. Cloudy bright reddish orange. Lively in the mouth. Light malty flavor with some tart raspberry, flowers and a bit of tangerine. Light bodied and flavor. Quite good though. Finishes fruity and dry with a slight bitterness. An ok and strange brew. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Nov 26, 2008 bottle thanks to blutt59. pink amber pour with a slight white head. slight sour tartness on the nose. interesting flavor of cloves, fruit and flowers. Swalden28 (1442), McKinney, Texas, USA Nov 21, 2008 Bottle thanks to Blutt59 aka "Bob".
Pours a pinkish orange with white fizzy head. Nice floral, hibiscus aroma. Flavor is very floral like as well, banana, some malt. Light body, high carbonation. This is a girly beer.....
