stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Aug 14, 2008 12 oz bottle from Secret Santa. Pours an amber color with a small white head. The aroma is weak with a bit of wheat. The flavor is spicy with wheat and thyme. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. The finish is short and dry with a slightly metallic note. Overall: A very unusual beer, not bad, but not something I’m likely to try again. Thanks mike. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 13, 2008 Pour is lightly hazed reddish with a thin off white head...smell is sweet and lightly floral at first with then a nice spicy herbal note...taste is sweet with fruity (pear) type thing...a nice sweetness in the finish...interesting for sure... mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 8, 2008 [1418-20080530] Tap. Strong spicy flower aroma (what must be hibiscus) and muted cheese pizza and plastic. Slightly hazy, light orange pink body with a small medium-lasting creamy light pink foam. Strong flowers and a bit of vinegar in the flavour with spicy dandelion notes. Medium body. Interesting additive in theory.
(@ Dieu du Ciel!; Montreal, QC) Dogbrick (2813), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 4, 2008 This beer pours a pinkish-amber color with a thin off-white head that dissipates to a film rather quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Floral aroma with sweet malt notes and some spices. Medium-bodied with a sweet spiced character, and significant floral flavoring. Some bread and malt flavors as well. The finish is floral and yeasty with a light spiced aftertaste. Overall a decent beer, but clearly a gimmick and not something I would seek out or drink regularly. douglas88 (1555), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a reddish, almost pink hue, kinda looks like a cup of tea with a small white head. The aroma is pleasant; mostly wheat and citrus. The flavor is basically a nice wheat beer with tons of citrus, some sour lemon and a floral aspect. Very full wheat profile with an interesting hibiscus addition. JAXSON (229), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 1, 2008 Poured a really weird, hazy blood red with very little head. Spicy, floral, and kind of strange, but light and pleasant. Fairly acidic, it grew on me from beginning to end. The spiciness is strange at first, but seems to come into its own, tending toward a saison more than any style. durhambeer (1186), Durham, USA Jul 29, 2008 Bottle from Bruisin’ Ales. Bright pinkish orange hazy pour; color is not overly appetizing. Sour, floral nose. Some lemon and wheat. Lemon peel, hibiscus, roses, and sour apple and wheat on the palate. Nice mouthfeel. A bit tart and slightly bitter overall. Unique, but not an everyday sipper. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jul 28, 2008 Hazy bright orange pour with a pink tint. Very little head. Intense aroma of sweet malt with a touch of chocolate. Fruity and floral. A bit of earthy funk as well. Very pleasant. Bitter wheat flavor with lots of earthiness. Floral herblike notes. A bit of malt, apple, and citrus. Very unique and refreshing.
