Hazy red coloured with a medium sized white head.
Fruity aroma of citrus with notes of spices and berries.
Fruity flavour of citrus, spices and berries with notes of rubber and hops.
Citric finish. MereLikesBeer (153), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Aug 29, 2009 This is a rather curious brew. It poured a reddish-gold color I usually don’t associate with beers, however it didn’t put me off at all. The head that it had when I first poured was all but gone within a minute of the pour.
It’s aroma is quite complex, not like a typical wheat beer at all, the hibiscus they used while brewing comes out tremendously in the aroma. It also is reminiscent of ginger beer.
I have to say that I am not too fond of the taste. It’s highly carbonated with a medium mouthfeel. It is quite refreshing, yet the flavors don’t necessarily agree with me. There is a tartness, clearly from the hibiscus, but it also has an awkward grassy taste that doesn’t work for me.
gator2683 (133), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Aug 29, 2009 hazy reddish amber with tiny white head. sweet flowery aroma. flavor is spicy and slightly dry or sour Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Aug 27, 2009 THOUGHTS: At first I thought this might have been a little skunked, but I think it was just all the crazy aroma going on. But it was hard to tell. I smelled slightly skunked, but it didn’t taste skunked. I really can’t say. The yeast definitely looked old and dark at the bottom of the bottle. I might wind up trying this again to see it was skunked. If so it was still pretty good.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, medium brownish, orangey pink. It was almost a brownish mellon color and looked a little like dirty, rusty water too. It had a small to average, slightly pinkish head that mostly diminished. The aroma was tropical fruit, spices, flowers and perfume. It was like sniffing a flower arrangement that was being held by a woman with lovely perfume on while she baked spice cake or fruit cake. The initial flavor was sweet, rather acidic and slightly sour; while the finish was sweet, acidic and rather sour with an average duration. There was tropical fruit, flowery yeast, wheat, sour fruit and spices. The light to medium body was a little syrupy then very dry with fizzy carbonation and a moderate astringent finish. corby112 (671), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 25, 2009 Pours a dark cloudy amber color with a huge, slightly pin foam head that quickly settles into a thin lacing. Sour acidic aroma with flower petals, citrus grapefruit and grapes. Soft carbonation with a sour and slightly puckering acidic taste. Nice subtle floral flavor with citrus peel, grape fruit and light crisp grapes.
TipsyMcStager (900), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 22, 2009 Spicy floral aroma. Pours cloudy red with a thin head. Definitely an unusual beer. Pungent floral and spices. Probably don’t need to drink 6 in a row but a refreshing change of pace.
