Commercial Description:
The Rosée d’Hibiscus is a soft spoken wheat beer. The rose colour comes from the hibiscus flowers added during the brewing process. The aromas and flavour of this tropical flower are very prominent in the beer, giving it a slight acidity and a very agreeable fragrance. It is the perfect thirst quencher on a hot summer day.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy fine to large sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated red brown colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was dirty sock. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and floral. Not one that I would likely buy again.

11.5 oz bottle purchased at Hop City in Atlanta, GA. Wow, didn’t expect the color. Looks like a darker carbonated grapefruit juice. Didn’t expect the appearance, but it looks great; something new and different. Huge floral aroma. Wow, a wine like approach to this spice/herb/vegetable. I say win approach because of the aroma. Big fruit aroma. Not a dark fruit aroma, but a nice lighter tart fruit aroma. Nice complex berry aroma; flowers come through as well. Very nice rich and complex aroma. Wow, a big flower flavor. Tastes like I am eating flowers. Slight berry flavor come through. Not as acidic as I thought it would be. The carbonation doesn’t provide any type of bite, which is great because I get to fully appreciate the nuances of the beer. Slight yeast/funk taste. Wow, I haven’t tasted a spice beer like this before. Very nice and very different.

Bottle from Le Marche Jovi- An interesting cloudy pink with ruby hues, topped with a white foam that laces well. Mostly floral nose has hibiscus, rose petal, berry fruit, and some funky yeast. Very upfront with red berry flavours, rose petal, subdued hops, spices and some funky yeast again. Interesting combination here. Very dry and chalky finish. Good.

Bottle @ VinensVerden, Odense. Pours hazy pink with a small white head. Nose is flowers, perfume and exotic fruits. Taste is berries, fruit and vague hops. A bit of tartness. Medium bodied. Short and dry end. Tasty and quenching.

This is a rather curious brew. It poured a reddish-gold color I usually don’t associate with beers, however it didn’t put me off at all. The head that it had when I first poured was all but gone within a minute of the pour. It’s aroma is quite complex, not like a typical wheat beer at all, the hibiscus they used while brewing comes out tremendously in the aroma. It also is reminiscent of ginger beer. I have to say that I am not too fond of the taste. It’s highly carbonated with a medium mouthfeel. It is quite refreshing, yet the flavors don’t necessarily agree with me. There is a tartness, clearly from the hibiscus, but it also has an awkward grassy taste that doesn’t work for me.
