Oakes (8058), gone rambling, Vietnam Jul 2, 2008 Cloudy pinkish-amber. Very wheaty aroma is slightly floral, spicy, yeasty. Spicy taste, lightly fruity, with hints of coriander and hibiscus. Finishes wheaty, floral and refreshing. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA May 7, 2008 (33cl bottle) Small off-white head that mostly diminishes atop hazy amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange/floral, some honey, wheat. Taste is medium sweet, lemon sour, some honey, wheat, light orange. Aftertaste is lemon bubblegum. Light-medium body, light acidity, low carbonation. thewolf (5634), Kolding, Denmark Sep 22, 2009 Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours deep, hazy orange-pink with a great, staying, creamy, light pink head. Aroma is sweet and wheaty, extremely flowery. Some oranges, raspberries, light tartness. Highish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is lovely floral, some spiciness, light tartness. Good wheaty sweetness as well. Quite elegant, different and rather nice. Rastacouere (5551), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 6, 2006 Rosé to orange coloured, completely opaque and magnificiently covered by an eternal 1-inch white foam. Beautiful pour. Surprisingly dry aroma with boastful fruitiness reminiscent of blood orange, cracker-like fresh wheat, slight manure and just an overall balanced fruitiness. Becomes more floral in mouth where the hugely refreshing, tart and juicy (cactus juice?, coconut?) flavours are met by a slender bitterness aromatised with leafy undertones. Lasting fruity aftertaste. Tight, foamy palate with expressive carbonation and a supporting maltiness like anything by DDC. Remarkable offering. hopdog (5534), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 14, 2008 341ml bottle acquired in trade with beerlando (thanks!). Poured a medium and cloudy reddish color with a smaller sized head. Aromas of berries, citrus, flowers, wheat, and spices. Tastes of berries, caramel, peaches, flowers, wheaty, and some citrus and spices. I’m guessing the sweet berries I was getting were the hibiscus flowers. This one was different in a good way. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jun 2, 2008 Bottle…Cloudy, light orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent retention. Funky, spicy aroma provides clove phenols and hibiscus essence. Vero Beach carries the Hibiscus City moniker and those flowers are blossoming year-round in everyone’s landscaping. There’s no mistaking their spicy, floral aroma and this brew is loaded with it. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Restrained acidity with equal sweetness. Herbs and flowers. Decent bitterness affords great balance. Lengthy, tingly finish. Bottled provided by glouglouburp!
