3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1700) - Asshat, - JUL 18, 2009
Why was I surprised when I poured this out and it was dull red / pink? Small white cap that lasts for awhile leaving very nice silty, spotty lacing on most swirls. Excellent, strong aroma that made my mouth water instantly. Tons of floral up front, sour raspberries, grains - very appealing. The taste does not live up to the same standards set by the aroma but it is still very good none the less. Sourness is number one here with a very weird drying, acidic after taste of flavours that just confuse. More grains, faint, dull raspberries or even weaker cherry, ample wheat that seems to hold back too much of the goodness hiding and well placed light spice. A pretty fine brew that fades in interest after the aroma factor.

Pours a very dark orange/pink(?) - looks like a glass of dark grapefruit juice. Almost no head. Very sweet, fruity (citrus) aroma. Tastes similar to a champagne - oranges, grapefruit (sweet - not sour), etc. Medium body. Very few apparent carbonate bubbles, but carbonation evident in palate/mouthfeel.

On tap @WVRST, pours a really eye catching red to pink hue with a bubbly white head. Floral element is nicely pronounced on the nose with some herbs & citrus in there as well. Bright and well carbonated sweet to bitter finish. Great for the patio in the summer.

Deep hazy pink colour with a thin white head. The aroma has a little bit of light herbal/floral character. Fairly fresh smelling with a nice bright pink grapefruit sort of tartness behind a spicy and herbal component. Wheaty tartness lend a nice refreshing bite to this one. Nice stuff.

341ml bottle. A cloudy orange body with pink nuances looks so unusual. Small white head that dissipates almost instantly. First thing that kicks in is the alcohol, and after that the typical wheat beer, with some interesting sweetish-sour influences, refreshing floral bouquet, banana and yeast. Taste is full of sourness, thanks to the hibiscus, a crisp lightness, very refreshing, herbal tones. Good summer beer.
