ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Butters Big Blowout - That’s a one spicy a’meatball Another wacky Dieu Du Ciel. Not my fav though. Butters (1623), Virginia, USA May 3, 2009 Bottle shared at Butter’s Big Cellar Blowout. The last of this brewery flight. Clear reddish orange pour with no real head. Massive pepper flavor and ginger. Aweful heartburn in the back of the throat. Can’t get behind this one. But that is definitely my personal proclivity toward not tolerating spicy shit. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA May 3, 2009 Bottle at Butters Big Cellar Blowout. Pours an off-white head with a clear amber body. Smells of ginger, white pepper, and salt. Flavor is pepper, ginger, little malt, and some honey. Finish is spicy and awesome. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2009 a beer with a black pepper after taste, quite unique. the flavor besides that is malty with a good caramel flavor. wild!!! nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2009 The aroma is malty with caramel, fruit, and a touch of spice but it does not give a hint of the hot pepper that is coming. The appearance is deep amber with a smaller head. The palate is smooth. The finish is incredibly hot with pepper. Overall a well crafted beer. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 19, 2009 12oz bottle. Unfiltered orange-brown color, big head. Some spicy caramel aroma. Smooth and malt certainly, with a quite odd black pepper finish. Smooth mouthfeel, but the black pepper really starts to dominate, which leaves an almost unpleasant hot feeling. Out of all the DdC beers, I’m surprised they decided to bottle this one. Has some delicate Belgian qualities, but it also seems a little poorly aged. I’ll bet it’s a different creature fresh on tap. larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Apr 18, 2009 Big shiny beige lasting head. Cloudy dark brown body. Strong fruity roasty cardamom and caramel aroma with spicy cinnamon notes. Dry-sweetish herbal spicy roasty taste with peppery minty notes. Smooth, spicy hot mouthfeel. Clean palate. Fullish body. Dry chocolatey spicy marzipan aftertaste with toffee notes. Excellent, and highly interesting, if perhaps not as drinkable as it could have been. (0.355l bottle, Ølbutikken, Copenhagen.) AR (417), Georgia, USA Apr 17, 2009 This is an interesting beer. It has a hearty mouthfeel. At first tast, A caramel malt predominates, but then a spiciness comes forward. A pepper flavor that lingers on.
