| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2009 Pours to a hazy really carbonated dark brown body with a very tall rocky off-white head. Sexy lacing. The aroma is chocolate and rye malts and grain dust. Dusty spices and yeasts. The flavor has a bite at the back of the throat from the peppercorns used. Spicy pepper also was apparent on the top of the tongue. Lots of chocolate and rye malts. Hard to explain the chocolate. It’s not like in the traditional sense but more like a light brownie. Bite from the pepper is unique. Well carbonated. SamGamgee (1429), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2009 11.5oz bottle. Lightly hazy dar amber with a white head. Spicy pepper and bread-crust aroma. Lightly sweet caramel and tangy flavor, with a big pepper kick. The finish is quite hot, but not with alcohol. Medium-light with lots of residual heat. Quite interesting stuff. This is the kind of beer that you need to drink every now and then to break out of the normal hoppy-malty cycle. I can’t say that I love it, but its cool. Strykzone (1468), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Appearance is medium brown and akin to apple cider. Almost no head and some light lacing. Aroma is fruity and spicy. A big black pepper taste dominates the flavor and finds its real definition in the aftertaste. While only moderately enjoyable this beer is truly unique and interesting. That pepper aftertaste rolls through in waves. drfabulous (1234), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2009 Slightly sweet aroma. Some pepper taste, but I am not getting much more than a fairly basic ale here. Ok over all but I am tired of being let down by this brewery. Too pricey for the taste. bedainedebiere (284), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2009 God did I disliked that pepper taste... Great texture, all in all a quality brew, and with the quality of their beers, if I was a fan of peppery beer, I’m sure I would be pleased. But there’s just too much pepper taste to enjoy it. No way I rate this badly. It’s funny how it is pretty highly rated mostly by Americans... SpringsLicker (2042), Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Pours a deep clear brown with a minimal tan head that laces like a Belgian.
Sweet malty aroma.
Well balanced with the sweet malts balanced by a tangyiness that ends with a touch of peppery fire at the end.
Tasty, smooth bodied and a bit different.
