minch25 (346), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 28, 2008 Dark red; medium khaki head. Aroma: chili pepper? Quite spicy aftertaste. Grainy. Spiciness continues to build up. Never had a beer like this before... quite the novelty. This is pretty cool but I have to wonder when would I ever want to drink this? Too hot to chill with or to ever quench your thirst... sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland Nov 27, 2008 (Bottled) Very hazy reddish amber with a smallish and lasting, foamy and lacy head. Aroma of cinnamon, coffee, ashes, slightly cardboardy toffee maltiness. Gingery and very peppery burn with exotic spiciness steals the show completely in the flavor, yet some caramely maltiness remains in the background. Medium body, slightly foamy carbonation. Yes, there are many spices in this one - but it’s a bit too much for me in one beer. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2008 Picked this one up at sprinkle’s store in Indy. Bought two, dropped one. Dog hated it, and has been sneezing ever since. Muddy brown pour, with some amber highlights. Flavor is dry, with a nice rich malty character throughout. Also finishes dry with the tingle of pepper slowly fading onto the palate. I rather like a white/black peppercorn quality to my beer, so I found this pretty pleasant. Petrucci914 (574), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours an amber color with a thin off-white head that leaves a few streams of lacing. Aroma is caramel malts, peppercorn, and a hint of spicy smoke. Up front it tastes like a Smoked or a Porter, and finishes with some spicy burn. I find it pretty drinkable, actually. An interesting brew. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Nov 1, 2008 Pours a rich coppery color with thin off white head. Aroma is light malt, light hops and spicy pepper. Taste is light caramel and intense peppercorn. To be honest, it burns my throat and USA off-putting to me. Glad I tried it, but never again. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Oct 27, 2008 11.5 oz bottle from tytoanderso, thanks Tyler. Pours a super deep mahogany with slight red hues and a medium to large sized foamy light tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt, caramel, toast....basically just malts with no hint of rye o black pepper. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a crisp finish. Flavor does have hints of rye and is motsly just malty. The black pepper comes across somewhere between the flavor and the palate and is more felt then tasted. Actually the more I sip this the more I like the black pepper after taste/feeling and I’m bumping up the palate to a 5 just because of that. lamas (709), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Oct 26, 2008 11.5 oz. bottle. A mahogany pour with a big light-tan head. Lots of pepper throughout. Medium-bodied. Some caramel upfront and a bit of hoppiness at the end. Pepper dominates throughout though. This beer is all about the PEPPER. Incredibly spicy. Very interesting. talon1117 (615), Bellvue, Colorado, USA Oct 22, 2008 Pours a sparkling clear, amber color with a moderately-full, light khaki, creamy, rocky head; it takes a long time to settle, staying creamy and frothy, leaving some tight, sporadic lace. Nose is simple with spicy pepper notes and lots of rye bread with some miscellaneous herbs (sage?). Flavor is more pronounced with some sweet flavors to balance the spice notes; It starts with pepper and ends with pepper, almost a cayenne pepper note. Some sweet caramel undertones, some toasted rye bread, and a saffron note intermingled. Palate is medium, lively, spicy, and a bit dry from the pepper. Finishes with just a touch of rye and a lot of black pepper and cayenne, a bit dry. The spiciest beer I’ve had to date, aside from chili beers. Certainly unique and still somewhat sweet enough to nearly balance the pepper. Perfect pairing for lots of spicy foods.
