FirmButtstone (47), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA May 26, 2008 I really like the pepper finish. The warmer it gets the more the pepper stands out. I got a bit of juniper taste in this, that might be from the green peppers. Overall, damn nice, good rye dryness that works very well with the pepper spice. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA May 25, 2008 Very interesting beer. Amber pour with a slightly tan head. Aroma of rye. Caramel malts up front with rye and green peppercorn on the finish. spicy aftertaste JCB (1713), Durham, North Carolina, USA May 25, 2008 Updated: Jun 22, 200811.2oz from Sam’s, Durham. Well, they’re not kidding about the pepper. I recall being slightly dissatisfied with the relative absence of pepper in the Brewer’s Art tripel if anything this beer goes to the opposite extreme. Nice amber pour, vibrant with a decent palate and head. The nose is mild rye and spice but the finish is hot green peppercorn, so intense that it actually gives me a bit of bother in my stomach (which is not normally so sensitive). Hmm, I kinda dig it! kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA May 25, 2008 Name: Route des Epices

Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 25, 2008 I can see how not everyone would dig this, but I really liked it. The rye is more prevalent in the nose, and it first, its the main characteristic in the flavor, as well. The peppercorns really come in at the finish and aftertaste, and are a bit overpowering. I liked it. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 24, 2008 Pours a transparent copper with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Aroma of dry, doughy rye and yeast. Body starts lightly sweet and pale malty quickly giving way to a burning black pepper flavor that dominates the beer and its lingering finish. I can’t even finish this from the amount of black pepper. shp555 (1677), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 24, 2008 Pours a hazy copper color with a white head. Aroma is malt, black pepper, and rye. Flavor is lots of peppery spice, some malty sweetness, and a touch of rye. chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 18, 2008 I thought this was an interesting beer, thought it might be a little higher rated. Pours a dark amber with an off white head. Nice peppercorn and malt aroma. Beer went down smooth, and I enjoyed the pepper flavor in the beer. I could see why others might not like it as much, but I thought it was good.
