Medium amber with thick, billowing white/beige head with lace. Peppercorn, typical amber malt aroma, slight yeast and sweet toffee as well. Spicey, dark red fruit, med sweet and slight malt that you can taste over the spice. Medium, well carbonated body. Spice takes over the rest of the beer but still very nice. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2008 The peppercorn in this may be a bit strong for a couple pints, but this really paired well with food. The peppercorn is fresh and hot, the finish just leaves behind a hot dry peppery flavor. The malts were light, soft rye flavor, none of it really can compete with the pepper though. Enjoyable with food, but a few pints would be tough. joergen (8523), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2008 Umber color with a taller faded beige head. I am certainly smelling fresh cracked pepper. I am suddenly thinking about frying an egg. I’m trying, but I’m not finding much as far a malt or beer, perhaps a bit of sweetness, but the pepper takes every bit of my nose. Light pale malt and green cracked pepper flavors dominate. Light burn in the back of the throat from the pepper. Now I’m thinking of steak au poivre. This begs to be paired or cooked with food. Not one I’d recommend by itself. For me a bit more malt sweetness/depth would help. fonefan (11075), VestJylland, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 11, 2008 Bottle. Clear medium red amber color with a large, frothy - creamy, good - excellent lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy black pepper. Flavor is moderate sweet and a heavy peppery burn with a long long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. A funny beer but to much black pepper for me. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 8, 2008 Bottle. Poured deep copper in color with large beige head. Aroma of pepper and spices. Taste of over the top peppercorn with an caramel malt backbone with rye notes. The pepper in the finish is lingering and I found it quite annoying after a while. The pepper taste stayed in my mouth for what seemed like an eternity. Creative, but I’m glad I had half a 12oz bottle. I need to check my teeth for black specs. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2008 Bottle. Mahogony beer with a nice tan head. Toffee, rye, and spice aroma. Big pepper flavor with caramel backing, some earthiness and a bit of hops. LIngering pepper and rye - reminds me a bit of a low level cinamon candy. Medium body. Different, but has you drinking more.
