| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 20, 2008 Bottle. Poured medium amber with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma of rye, dark wheat and black pepper. Complex flavor, with kilned wheat, caramel malt, chocolate and freshly cracked black pepper. Long peppery finish. Very unique beer, I really enjoyed it, but I’d like it even more if the pepper were a bit more subtle. sfhodense (554), Odense NØ, Denmark
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 20, 2008 Bottle. Amber with beige head. Aroma is spicy, with notes of pepper and some malt. Flavour is some malt and lots of pepper. To hot for me. Gr0ve (1393), Oslo, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 12, 2008 341 ml bottle. Brown colour with a red hue. Tall fine-laced light beige head that clings to the glass. Very high carbonation as lots of bubbles rise to the surface. Grainy aroma with hints of black pepper and cacao. Refreshing hop bitterness flavour at first then sharp black peppery flavours. Spicy and warming. The peppery flavours tickles and lingers in the mouth a long time. Beer is medium-bodied leaning towards the lighter side. The spicyness is almost numbing. Nice beer, especially if you like spicy food. Habanero (617), Tranbjerg, Denmark
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2008 Pours clear amber with a nice beige head. Sweet malty nose. Flavour dominated by pepper with notes of caramel and fruit. Ends up more dry, again with a lot of pepper. Medium bodied
I like spicy foot and beer, but spicy beer is apparently not me. TomDecapolis (3150), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 8, 2008 Pours a brownish/amber with a nice large foamy/rocky head that left spotty lacing down the sides of the glass. Aroma of black better, caramel, some doughy notes, rye and on the malty sweet side. Sweet nose with a bunch of black peppery notes. Flavor of...you got it, Black Pepper, almost seems like it has a bit of a burn to it. Also getting some caramel notes, bready malt, toasted malt and some of the sweet maltiness I was picking up in the aroma. Yeah that is peppery burn and I’m not sure what I think about this much pepper in a beer. Don’t get me wrong...love spicy/burn your mouth hot food. Not sold on it in my beers. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Bottle from trip to Montreal. Slightly hazy brown-copper colour with a good sized off-white head. Aroma of sweet malt and rye with smoke notes and a nice peppery edge. Medium mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet and slightly whisky-like off the top, and then OH MY GOD THAT’S A FUCKLOAD OF PEPPER in the long, burning finish. It sounds wrong to say so, but I actually really liked this - although one bottle was quite enough. GriffinAvenue (396), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Bottle. Bown sugar brown coloring. No head. No residual. Smoky, spicy, pepper black. Bloody Mary celery like. Tabasco-black pepper radiates throughout. Overpoweringly spicy like mashed potatoes with too much pepper and enough to make you cry. Unique.
