3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at the 2008 VT Brewers Fest - Poured a dark amber in color with a hefty light tan head. Aroma was malty with fruity esters and accompanied by the spiciness of the peppercorns. Flavor was also malty with hefty amounts of dark fruits and, again, the distinct flavor of the peppercorns. The rye adds a ice creamy texture to the beer. I liked this one...

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown pour with a fizzy, short lasting head. Aroma of malts. Flavour is of grains, cereals, malts, etc. No peppercorn or spice notes up front, but you get a nice slow burn as you drink it.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
App: Medium light brown with almost no head
Nose: Not alot going on on the nose. Bit of cereal, toffee and slight spicyness.Barely any yeast notes, maybe i didnt let it warm long enough.
Taste: slightly roasted malt, cereal, mild toffee and bread notes, spices and the pepper shines in the finish leaving a pleasant heat on the tongue and palate.Earthy and herbal bitterness from the hops that compliment very well the pepperyness of this beer.
Pretty interesting beer. The malt profile seems a bit lackluster but it gets better in complexity if you let it warm up quite a bit. This is the perfect beer for food pairing with steak, grilled meats, etc. I will probably buy it again but it will most likely be to pair with a meal rather than drinking as a standalone beer. While its not my favorite style of all time, this beer works well for what it is. Worth a try. I recommand it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours brown with reddish highlights, like something from the root beer-birch beer family. Moderate tan head reduces quickly but leaves some lacing.
Nose is rye and pepper. What you smell is what you get: rye with slight malty caramel note and a buzz of pepper. Very tasty for what it is, but those "multitudes" of flavors are more like several. It could use cheese or mustard or some accompaniment.
Still, this is easy drinking and just sufficiently jazzy to make a nice substitute for your regular brew.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Color ambra-bronzo, schiuma compatta e molto persistente. Aroma pungente, bevuta molto interessante per il sapore di spezie e di pepe. Bilanciata e piacevole.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Brewdog Glasgow. Nice price. Pepper finish is very nice. Start is a little less exciting. Bit of caramel, don’t quite get the rye. Spice increases further down. Like it. But apart from the pepper feels like a British amber. Bit of toffee. Very smooth. Glad I tried it.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Not getting much in the way of pepper in the nose, mostly malt and caramel. Appearance is reddish brown with a little rim of head. Taste is extremely interesting, with a basic malty profile that turns to a decent pepperiness which really doesn’t overwhelm. Feel is sort of tingly with the pepper and medium bodied. Really quite good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours clear medium amber with a short finger of off-white head diminishing rapidly to a thin skim, spotty lacing. (3/5) Nose is muted, spicy peppercorns, rye, pale malt. (7/10) Taste is mild sweet, moderate bitter, moderate pepper. (7/10) Medium body, low sustained carbonation, mildly peppery finish. (4/5)
A little odd but quite drinkable - certainly better than some of the chile beers I’ve tried. The spiciness comes across as mild peppercorns, giving a gentle heat in combination with the rye sharpness and hop bitter. Not a beer for everyone, certainly, but I enjoyed it. Perhaps a little better than the sum of its parts. (16/20)

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
341ml bottle served at 6 degrees in a flute glass:
Pours a clear copper body with fiery bronze highlights, topped by half a finger of fine and creamy beige foam. The head shrinks to a porous layer but still shows great micro lacing properties.
The nose offers great spicy notes of pepper (obviously) but also of fresh cilantro and smoky paprika. This ale has very nice aromas just inviting you to fire up the grill.
On the tongue, pepper is there all the way with some rye paired with roasted malts. The combination of the barley malts with the pepper and roasted features give great density and bitterness to the product. This full-bodied ale finishes with an interesting peppery sting on the tip of the tongue.
This is a very interesting product I would totally pair with grilled beef (a nice cut mind you) or even use in a marinade. You could even use some of it to prepare your very own peppercorn sauce to go with your meat!
