Routes des épices (French for "Spice Route") is a rye beer brewed with both black and green peppercorns. Initially, the beer reveals flavours of fresh grain and malt, which give it notes of chocolate, caramel, and fruit. The pepper flavour and aroma is fully revealed in the finish, which leaves a pleasant, spicy, tingling sensation on the tongue.

A nice tasty interesting beer. Noted slight tingle on the tongue from the peppercorns but would have liked a bit more. Solid beer just not giving enough of that spice for me.

341ml bottle from Saveur-Biere

Bottled 10/2013 - Pours dark amber brown with a small white head. Aroma of spices, rye, syrup, malts and dark caramel. Taste is smooth, malty and sweetish with notes of rye, spices, syrup and toffee. Finish is smooth and sweet with some maltiness, rye and spices. Okay quite balanced rye ale as the spices are quite subtle.

Slightly roasty spiced peppery aroma that is somewhat faint. Transparent amber color with a tan/yellow head. Start is roasty with hot pepper touches. Finishes with some spiciness, but not too spicy . Finishes roasty and smooth. Interesting and well-balanced.

Draft pour. A lot of chile and pepper on the aroma. Very smooth beer with a lot of vegetable and spice. Points for being very unique. Good stuff

Sweet & spicy smell. Complex taste building to a big peppery finish. A great beer to pepper your mouth whilst eating a steak. Rated by BrewTom

Bottle from Total Wine in Boca Raton, FL. Tulip at home. Pours a very deep amber with a thin white head. Very little lacing. Aroma of malts, pepper, roasted corn, and smoke. Taste is similar with a heavy pepper influence, roasted malts, light smoke, and rye bread. Mouth is peppery and almost numbing. Finish is pepper and bread. Medium light body and some carbonation.

Roasted cocoa, pepper aromas. Rich malty flavors, nuts, strong chili finish. A quite popular local brew, nice match with smoked meats.
