COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Routes des épices (French for "Spice Route") is a rye beer brewed with both black and green peppercorns. Initially, the beer reveals flavours of fresh grain and malt, which give it notes of chocolate, caramel, and fruit. The pepper flavour and aroma is fully revealed in the finish, which leaves a pleasant, spicy, tingling sensation on the tongue.

A nice tasty interesting beer. Noted slight tingle on the tongue from the peppercorns but would have liked a bit more. Solid beer just not giving enough of that spice for me.

Coba y espuma color crema. Aroma de pimienta muy prominente, malta. Cuerpo bajo, textura maltosa, sabor de pimienta rosa con regusto picante intenso.

Bottle in Brewdog Glasgow. Ruby with a thin off white head. The taste is fruity with lots of peppery spice that leaves a burn on the tongue. Different.

Pours a fairly clear copper with a small creamy off white head. Aroma is chocolate, caramel, peppery, and kinda perfumy. Flavour is med-high spicy, peppercorns mixes with rye, light chocolate, caramel, mild bitterness and overall just a nice warmth!

Thanks to cfrancis for this one. Pours a clear medium brown with a small soapy brown head. Aroma of caramel, light chocolate, sweet malts and light perfumy esthers. Taste is caramel, sweet malts up front with some spiciness from the rye and then the peppercorns take over and provide a light tingling sensation on the tongue and then into the throat. Notes of nuts present too but the spiciness of the peppercorns is balanced delicately and adds nicely to the spicy rye. Great beer!

wow. Nez très poivré, goût très poivré. Etrange mélange, à réserver aux amateurs de poivre. Pas pour moi.

Bottle. Clear brown color, good white head. Aroma of caramel malt, pepper and other spices. Flavour: first some caramel malt, then comes the pepper. Strong and good. Great pepper finish. Really surprising. I like it. Only drawback, I find the body too thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Amber light brown. Pretty nice fresh, light roasted, peppercorns, amber slight bready malts. Intriguing. Soft med bodied. Malts, spices and some peppercorn heat in the finish. The aroma was a lot better than flavour. Gets a bit too spicy-xmassy-herbal, loved the clean peppercorns in the aroma. Nice to see another one of these. Hope I’ll get to try more soon.. .

Bottle. Pours amber/brown with not much head. Aroma is spicy for sure though I cannot make out peppercorns. I get brown sugar and mellow, slightly warming peppercorn in the taste. Medium body, a little caramel malt balance. Too much for me but I like the effort!

341ml bottle served in a tulip glass. A: First of all, perfect beer art. Dieu du Ciel makes, IMHO, the most beautiful beer labels ever! Pours a beautiful deep amber color forming a medium to small bubbled slightly yellow head which dissipates quickly leaving a thin layer that remains for a long time. Many lingering lacings are left in the glass S: Great nose. Strong notes of black pepper, chocolate, toffee, caramel malts and bready yeasts T: Follows the nose. Strong notes of black pepper and caramel malts. Notes of rye, chocolate and cinnamon. Slightly bitter and peppery end M: Light to medium body. Good carbonation. Chocolate, caramel and peppery aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Great Spicy beer. Unique experience [ BA Review @ 3/23/2013 ]
