| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 15, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, medium brown amber color with a medium-sized ivory-colored head. The aroma opens with a dose of peppercorn mixed interestingly with sweet, grainy malt with only minor hints of rye. There is a vague fruitiness as well. The flavor pale malts, a touch bready, that is mostly lacking the sweetness from the nose. The peppercorn taste is very distinct once you start drinking it down. The spicy rye character is also present and lasts through the finish. This has a medium body with medium carbonation. This was an interesting beer but not your everyday drinker. Tastes like Douglass Firs and black pepper. Leaves a spicy, piney, and tangy aftertaste. Awesome concept. Win. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

App - Faintly hazy copper with a large, creamy, off white head and superb lace.
Aroma- Unmistakeable black pepper up front, caramel, dark sweet fruit like dates, figs, etc.
Palate - Medium body and carbonation, dry palate.
Flavor - Underlying malty sweetness is easily overcome by the spicy, peppery bitterness.
Definitely a beer to have with a meal, preferably a charbroiled steak or burger, something big and hearty. In that context, which is how I drank it, it matches up well. Drunk by itslef, it would almost certainly be excessive and unbalanced. If nothing else, it’s unique. NobleSquirrel (1122), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Nose is a bit spicey, though I smell the EKG that they probably used, flowery and whatnot. Color is nice, hardly any head. Fruity in the front with the pepper attacking your palate through the middle and finish. Sweet and dry, though spicy from the Rye. This is just one bizarre beer, perhaps a bit too much, though interesting. BOLTZ7555 (1121), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Very unique burnt caramel color with a nice sand-colored head. Aroma is sweet brown sugar, toffee, and some dark fruit. Flavor is intensely spiced...the lingering black pepper aftertaste dances on the tongue. It’s a little hot, actually. Medium to syrupy mouthfeel. I’ve enjoyed all I’ve tried from this brewery!!! pineypower (1111), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 12, 2008 Pours out a reddish brown color with a small creamy slightly off white head with some lacing going on. Aroma is of some caramel, spice and slight grain, didn’t pickup much pepper in the aroma. Taste is complex, it starts with some caramel, then fades into some grainy rye notes mixed with a nice but not overpowering pepper flavor. The pepper becomes more apparent on the finish, finish reminds me of having a peppercorn crusted steak that leaves that tingly burn in the back of your throat. jredmond (1090), New Jersey, USA
