COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Routes des épices (French for "Spice Route") is a rye beer brewed with both black and green peppercorns. Initially, the beer reveals flavours of fresh grain and malt, which give it notes of chocolate, caramel, and fruit. The pepper flavour and aroma is fully revealed in the finish, which leaves a pleasant, spicy, tingling sensation on the tongue.

Pours a transparent golden brown, no head. Sparse carbonation. Aroma: Super peppery. Hints of rye, but the overwhelming smell is peppercorn. Palate: Medium bodied. Smooth and creamy. Nice finish - tiny hint of dryness. Taste: Sweet and spicy. The beer feels sweet like a caramel, and the pepper adds some awesome spice to it. Nice freakin’ beer.

330ml bottle shared with ippopotamo36. Deep amber color with a decent off-white head. Aroma of malt, corn, caramel and spices, interesting. Flavour is medium to heavy sweet with pepper and chilli in the end... crazy! Medium body, texture is oily, well carbonated. Interesting!

Appearance: clear ruddy amber-orange, with a shy, dissipating creamy tan head and no lacing. Aroma: not strong--warm caramel and scotch toffee, with a hint of black pepper and marmalade. Taste: caramel, toffee, and candied fruit, with a bit of rye toast and a dash of pepper. Finish: sweet and slightly syrupy (more so than the low abv would indicate), although it ended rather abruptly as well; the finish is where a bit of true heat from the rye and peppercorns came out, although it wasn’t too hot. Notes: Glad to have tried this. I’m a sucker for rye-forward beers, and this was a good, solid offering. Sneaky 11.5 ounce bottle from Westover Market in Arlington, Virginia.

Pours a half finger of head on a hazy brown body. The aroma is spice rye bread. Nice. The taste is muddled rye, caramel and peppers. The finish is a nice peppercorn flavor though. The texture is crisp and fizzy. It’s a rye bread in liquid form.

0,33 bottle shared by mortlach during a great private tasting at my place in Rome-Italy. Thank you. Pours a amber-ruby color, similar to the skin of a dry chili pepper, semi filtered with a decent off white cap. Very cool. Nose: a bit of a soapy nose feel, ginger, a hint of caramel. Mouth: frizzy carbonation, spicy warm peppery feeling, weird but ok.

341ml bottle. Clear, faint amber colour with small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty aroma, slightly chocolately and grainy, peppery spicy overtones. Taste is minimally chocolately, caramel malty, citrusy hoppy overtones with a lemon touch, a peppery spicy touch is late active.

Riktigt trevlig.
