Cask at Cask Days 2011. Beer #8 of festival. Pours a murky orange-copper with lots of little bubbles and a small lasting bubbly off-white head. Big smoky aroma with lots of smoking, burning wood along with notes of meat and blood that I often get in good Rauchbiers and finally some roasted malt. Very smoky flavour, also malty and fruity along with light hops -- lots of smoke but it’s still easy to drink. Medium bodied. A solid Smoked beer and right on style, just like I like them.

Cask days 2011. Amber pour, small head. Intense aroma of smoke, burnt wood, and bacon. Tinges of light fruit, more smoke, and an intense soyish smoky bacon finish.

Cask Days 2011
Aroma smoky, mid intensity, slight hint of orange peel, warm malty round up. 7+
Appearance hazed amber with medium light rocky top. 3+
Flavor and Palate : interesting smoky character, smooth ash wood, ham, plenty of phenolic elements. One sided Rauch done right. Good brew.

Cask. Pale amber pour. The aroma has a little bit of soft rauch malt and some soft noble hopping. A lingering smokiness but it’s quite lovely. Fresh and quite authentic.

On cast at Volo Cask Days 2011. Fantastic! Very strong smoky aroma and taste that doesn’t overpower the beer and is very enjoyable. I wish I could find this locally in bottle

Cask. Appearance: cloudy red orange. Small off white head. Aroma: boom - big smoke & bacon aroma, a little malt too. Flavour: tangy bacon, lots of peat smoke, a nice hop profile. Very tasty and very enjoyable.

on tap at the brewpub. pours clear dark copper with a sticky white head. aroma is cereal and smoke. nice malty, biscuit, dough flavours with just the right amount of smoke to make this somewhat of an easy sessioning beer. light to medium body, plenty carbonation. refreshing and delicious.

On tap at DDC. Pours a clear reddish/orange hue with a thick bright white head. Nice lacing around the glass. Pleasant aroma, wood chips and smoked cold cuts come to mind. Smoked and caramelized malts vie for attention with each sip, leading off to a lasting aromatic and woody finish. There are some lightly vegetal notes in there also that lend some interest to the brew. Palate is thin though nice and smooth so as not to detract from the flavor profile. Very nice.
