COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This noble brown winter beer with fiery reflections offers a complex aroma of fruit, alcohol and hops. Once tasted, it is slightly sweet with a hint of burnt caramel. Aged in American oak barrels, the bitterness has eased and it has wooden notes topped with a subtle touch of vanilla. A maderisation occurred after maturation in the barrel (aged one year), and the textures and flavors blend, becoming sweeter.

Bouteille 341 ml. Merci Gilles. Couleur brune, opaque, mousse beige, fuyante. Arôme de raisin, prunes noires, bois, porto. En bouche, douce, mielleuse, mûres, raisin, vin fortifié et chocolat...chêne, bien balancée. Finale de bois, avec fruits mûrs et légère astringence de bois. Excellente.

I received the barrel aged version from a generous Canadian Ba, thanks! Murky brown color, scant head. Smell is barrel and BOOZE! Taste us booze, oxidation, booze, alcohol, wood, very little barleywine. Overall I was glad to try this but unimpressed and unlikely to pick up the regular version. On tap at St-Jérome. An opaque, orange brown ale with a resilient beige head. Smell is caramel. Flavor is caramel, barley candy, vanilla, brown sugar and, surprisingly, a touch of maple. Finish is wood, vanilla, nice, very subtle hops, almost imperceptible. Lingering red candy flavor, and some nice warming alcohol feel. Full bodied, creamy, sticky mouthfeel. Weak carbonation. Weak carbonation. An elite barley wine.

Damn I almost feel like I owe Mike my life after tonight. Thanks Mike. Off the top Bourbon oak maple dark fruit burnt caramel. Killer aroma. Definitely whisky forward. A sweet fruity mellowness that is really enjoyable. Strong alcohol notes. A gentleman’s beer. Harsh sharp dry finish. Great beer!

Thanks to glouglouburp. Pours brown and boozy. Pretty thin, with a slight astringency. Not bad at all.

Bourbony with a strong hop presence. Clearly an American-style Barleywine. Strong booze presence, plenty of malt but the booze is paramount. 2011 was much better overall.

Bottle from kbudd19, thanks man!! Aroma has notes of dried dark fruits, vanilla, woods, caramel, toffee, port tones, just phenomenal! Murky muddy brown hue with a small off-white head that left no lace. Flavor is very sweet and bitter. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. Overall a true pleasure. A work of art. Simply a wonderful Barley Wine but the appearance is bad. Wonderful in every other way.

Pouts a cloudy thick amber with a slight head. Strong aromas of bourbon, oak, sticky malts. Taste is a complete bourbon bomb... Over the top bourbon and oak. Low bitterness. No roast, but very malt forward. The alcohol is hidden in every way, yet this still drinks like its way above the listed ABV. Pretty nice beer.

(Bar has this tapped as Burban barrel edition not sure if same)Dark brown body thin film floating on top. Aroma is weird, first thing i want to say is cream cheese, but there is burbon, no alcohol, vanilla, that is all. Taste is plain cheese cake, vanilla, cinnomen (very destinct). Burbon is obviuse, no burn.Very, very distinct brew never really had one like it before. Highly recomend.
