Pours dark brown with offwihite head. Aroma of dark ripe fruit, wood barrel and a sting of alcohol. Taste is dark fruit, raisins, oak and brown sugar with a alcohol sting. Impressive carbonation for being aged. It has a dry bitter finish of dark fruits and warming alcohol.

Bourbony with a strong hop presence. Clearly an American-style Barleywine. Strong booze presence, plenty of malt but the booze is paramount. 2011 was much better overall.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sweet and oaky nose with vanilla and toffee note with just a touch of dark fruits. The taste is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, with dark fruit, caramel, etc. Nothing special, typical barley wine.
