Lava is the name for black beer from Dingslebener. The Dingslebener private brewery gets the brauwasser from the mountain area. The mountain area has a volcanic origin, therefore the name lava. This black beer lava was brewed for the first time to 100 jae¤hrigen companies the anniversary 1995 after the German purity requirement, with malz - Thueringer barley, roasted malz, Hop from the Elbe Saale cultivation area and bottom-fermented yeast. The modern technology with the production causes a good and lovely taste. Taste: vollmundig, energizing Smell: lovely, mildly Color: black Foam: sufficient white foam for a black beer, but not so well responsible by the high alcohol content Masterpepper e: 13,5 % Alcohol: 6,0 % Favourite beer for women and men with fine taste

Bottled tnx Marduk. Clear deep ruby color, small beige head. Cardboardish, caramelly aroma. Medium-bodied. Grainy, grassy, caramelly and papery. Quite sweet. Bulkish.

500ml bottle - shared by Marduk - thanks!
Dry woody aroma, a bit nutty, but some sweet roast. A bit sweet and watery in the palate. Rather dull, and way too sweet, but not a disaster. Feels like a 3.8% sweet dunkel, had no idea there was 6% here. Can’t say I like it, but I ended up with an empty glass, so not so bad.

Ein leicht röstiges, aber primär karamellmalziges Schwoarzes mit einiger Süffigkeit, jedoch insgesamt zu wenig Würze und Hopfen. Ok.

Brown/ruby body with a thick white head. Aroma is caramel, cherries. Taste is sweet, caramel, ripe fruits, not so roasted as a schwarzes must be. End is sweet, some honey note. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. The 6% is well hidden, anyway

The label is indeed black, but not the beer. With a bit of an optimistic effort, I’d call it "dark amber". It kind of confirms that Schwarzbiere have cool labels but are pretty boring when it actully comes to drinking them. I think that is it for me with German Schwarzbiere for me, although I still want to try the Hasseröder due to my fascination for Auerhühner/Capercaillie. This beer is very sweet, much malty, with a regular whiff of a pale lager (or a poor pilsener) with a roasted side on that nose. The flavour, as mentioned above, is rather cloying sweet, with loads of caramel, a bit like some poorer baltic porters, but in this case it has an interesting medium body and a nice balance of flavours in the finish, with a suggestion of hoppy bitterness, but nothing to get one too excited. Boring, but not despicable.

Bottle. Pours out in a deep black colour with steady low head and medium body. Nose of malt and spice. Nice taste of dark roasted malt, barley, brown bread, pepper and herbs. Easy and quite nice to drink, yet nothing that special and delicious.
