UPDATED: DEC 9, 2007 Pours a medium golden with a small white head. Decent aroma - classic german smell. Starts out a tad sweet, but such characteristics are quickly whisked away by an explosion of german bittering hops. Finishes very dry. Quite bitter and surprisingly lovely.

Clear straw gold. Grainy brewer’s cereal aroma with skunky hop euro-lager smell. Same on the palate, slightly salty finish, bitter. Not bad.

Bottle. Nothing to really write about. Not the best beer. Very weak and almost not flavor. It did seem to have a dash of hops in it. Time to try another beer to wash this one down.

I’m tasting this side by side with Urquell. Translucent orange straw with a small white head. Much lighter in color than Urquell. The aroma is ever so slightly fruity, fresh hops dominate the faint nose. Very crisp and light on the palate with fine carbonation. Roasted cereal malt is the first and really only flavor, then the mid palate is almost non existent, followed by very pleasant hoppyness. Urquell is similar, though not as descript in its malt and the hops are a little more dull, but somehow maintains a bit more liveliness.

Ugh. I think this bottle was past its prime. The second I pop the cap I’m overwhelmed with skunk - I could smell it from across the kitchen. Eventually the skunk does fade but it leaves behind an almost tuna-like aroma unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Everything else is pretty standard for the style. Not impressed.

Bottle. Pours yellow gold, white head. Aroma is hops, malt. Flavor is hoppy, malty. Nothing special here, but also nothing offensive.

12oz bottle. Pours clear golden in color with white head. Aroma sweet grain and lite hops. Taste sweet grain and hops with dry finsih. Nothing to write home about.
