Bright dark amber color, with a nice rocky beige head, leaving laces, good sweet malt toastiness, mild raw malt cereals, dark fruit fruitiness, with a toffee-caramel accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a malty biscuity character, notes of sweet toasted malt, brown sugar, toffee, fruity accents of raisin, date, cookie dough, leading towards a sweet malty, faint floral hop bitterness finish. Nice beer!

This brown ale poured with a miniscule tan head. There is a sweet caramel malt flavor, with a slightly bitter finish. A very undistinguished dunkel beer.

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours a cleard dark auburn, not terribly dark for a dunkel (pardon the tautology). After about 90 seconds a ring of suds is all that’s left of the thin whispy head. Aroma is sweet and caramel-malty -- nice but not terribly complex.Flavor is also quite malty-sweet with caramel, hints of apple, and a strong bready presence. Hop presence is faint. Awful sweet and non-bitter for a dunkel; tastes more like a marzen to me. Medium-full body with a slightly limp palate. Pretty refreshing, though it won’t set the beer world on fire.

Bottle: Brown pour in medium depth, nice sized foamy tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is malty and roasted malt. Tastes of chocolate and malty sweetness with a little hop bitterness in the tail. Dry finish. Not too bad.
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 POD (198) - USA - JAN 15, 2007
Bottle. No head. Aroma was malt and a faint brandy like smell. Mouthfell was full bodied and rich. Big roast malt & caramel flavors with a nice dry bitter malt aftertaste. I would drink this one again. Very nice.

I didn’t even notice this was a green bottle with no date until I got home. What an atrocious trainwreck this turned out to be. Poured copper with a sudsy tan head. The aroma is of malt balls, some buttery diacetyl, stale fruits and foot odor. Against my better judgement I took a drink just of the sake of covering all aspects of a rating. Medium body with light carbonation. The taste starts horribly sour and malty. The finish has much of what was on the aroma only quite astringent and the added bonus of spoiled cooked veggies. This was awful, even for a drain pour.

Pours dark amber brown with a thin head. Aroma is malty with slight hints of alcohol. Flavor is roasty with caramel hints and very smooth. Overall very good, especially for the price (5 bucks a six pack).
