Pours a darker brownish amber with a smaller off white head that left slight lacing. Aroma of malts, some caramel, maybe a slight hint of fruits but hard to pick out what. Flavor was also malty, maybe some cherry, some roast and even a slight bitterness. A bit thin and watery.

[Portland International Beer Festival – Tap] A dark brown brew with a minimal head. This had a strong flavor and a good malt balance. You can tell they took there time brewing this beer. The fruitiness was subtle yet noticeable. I liked this beer it was a good representative to the style.

Pretty good stuff. I like this one so much better than the regular Dinkel Acker. The aroma has lots of caramel and malt but has some hops to balance. The appearance is a red-brown with a medium head that fades pretty quick. The flavor is sweet toasted malt and some nuttiness. The sweetness is well balanced with the bitterness in this one. The palate is think but the alcohol is bold enough to keep it from being too weak. The aftertaste is toffee like. Good.

A fairly rich aroma with a bit of molasses. Quite light and easy, but has a good sweeness in the finish, maybe a hint of chocolate. Good stuff.

On tap in Heidelberg. A murky cloudy brown ale. White head with a malty caramel aroma. Sweet flavor, slight roasted taste, not too hoppy. Strange little bar in Heidelberg where the bartender would only pour a small amount of beer into each glass from a great distance in order to produce an enormous head. Then she would go away for awhile, only to return and repeat the process several times. While visually entertaining, this took forever to get a beer!

This is nice. Surprisingly full flavored. Aroma has roasted malt and toasted bread. Dark brown color with low carbonation. Flavor is roasted grain. They did a good job with this. Great body, especially for the style.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2007 Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a dark mahogany color with a large tan head. The aroma is sour dark malts with a hint of molasses. The flavor is sour dark malts with a lightly roasty element and an undertone of tangy molasses.

Dark amber beer with a medium tan head, that laces the glass as it subsides and a hoppy aroma. The taste was malty with some coffee and caramel aftertones.

Definitely one of my favorite dunkels. Smooth and satisfying, this should be a must-taste for all who love this style.
