COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available bottled.
An honest, earthy and refreshing golden ale with a classic aroma of cedar and herbs. On the palate a light lemon/grapefruit flavour develops under the cedar for a truly distinctive character. The beer leaves a rounded taste in the mouth wanting you to take more.

Bottle shared at ChrisO. Clear golden color, small off-white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, lightly fruity, a hint of alcohol, a hint of raisins somehow, slightly sweet. Average body and carbonation. Hmm not very good imo.

Disappointing. Weak aroma that fades quickly. Taste bitter and citrus but poor aftertaste which was thin. Bit chemical tasting. JWD N’ards

Cask at JDW, brewed by Brecon. Dark gold with a lasting fine head, sweetish golden fruit nose leads to a dry-sweet body, fruity with marmalade and peach, touches of biscuit and a sharp citrus bitterness lurking in the tail. Nice.

Bottle - Light grain sweetness. Clearish light gold with a light white head. Light grains, finish is bitter and more bitter.

33 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is light phenolic and light fruity. Oxidised and toasted dark malty. Bitter and slight herbać dry finish.

Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) on the 9th August 2014. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear golden amber in colour with a thin white head. Very poor aroma of green apple and hop resin but this fades very very fast. Thin watery mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt base gives a noticeable weak cereal background with just a hint of grapefruit peel which totally lacks conviction. Aftertaste is surprisingly quite poor with just a slight taste of dusty hop flowers evident but very little else. Finish is weak with malt just about edging it by a whisker. A poor session Golden Ale to be honest.

Light orange colour with thin white head. Woody aroma. Mostly hoppy with little malt. Orange peel but not too bitter. Lovely orange/lemon marmalade finish. Pleasantly surprised with this one. Very moreish.

Cask @ JDW Shakespeare’s Head - whilst Pratchett-references are welcome any time, any place, this ale’s quality is not commensurate with the quality of the literature of the brewery’s namesake. At the same time, not much is awry either. Body is solidly opaque and orange. Rather flat aroma although some nice spices are present as well. Taste is dry and fruity, solidly malty. Some orange peels and ginger. Good mouthfeel. Nothing too exciting in the end.
