The beer is golden yellow in the glass, slightly cloudy with little foam. It smells very sweet and malty, slightly grainy and pleasantly hoppy. Starts malty-sweet with grassy hops and some grain. The middle part is clearly sweet, malty with grainy notes and a grassy hop. Goes into a hoppy-bitter, slightly sweet finish with a lot of grassy hops and some sweet malts!

Golden color with minimal white head. Aroma of apricots, caramel, biscuits. Taste, malt, honey, hints of peaches, some herbs. Bittersweet finish. Drinkable beer.

10/8/9/8/10/9

Bottle 33cl. A clear golden beer with good head. Nose is on barley sugar with hints of spicy hops. Aroma is very sweet, grassy and floral hoppy. Very nice beer with high bitterness but drinkable, alcohol is well hidden.

JorisPPattyn (7976) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 2, 2010
Good, fine yellowish head over clear deep metallic-golden beer. Very malty nose, dry cookies, fresh malts, even a hint at cucumber. Toasted, light-bitterish, overlying flavour on top of rich malts, but sweetness fully subdued. Very toasted, near cereals-like. Light to medium bodied, quite slick, very lightly burning MF. Feels more carbonated than it looks. Classical Heller Bock, but thankfully far from excessive sweetness. Thanks to H.L. for bringing this!

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt and straw, while the flavor is very sweet with notes of caramael and malt. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle: Deep golden with a quickly collapsing foamy layer; swet-malty, but also papery and alcoholic nose supported by some herbal hops; medium bodied, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; robust sweet-bitter finish. A quite rough "Heller Bock", not really convincing........
