Bottle: Hazy, dirty golden, mid-sized off-white head, that quickly diminishes to a small foamy layer; a phenolic-wheaty touch is detectable in the fruity (bananas) nose; moderate sourish-sweetish flavour, light to medium bodied; lemony-wheaty finish, almost without any tartness. O.K. IMO a solis standard Weizen.........

Astonishing beer. I personally believe that the most famous products are not necessarily the better ones (e.g. heineken, fosters, carlsberg, etc. If someone disagrees with me please don’t hesitate to contact me and discuss it!! But I do believe all those (and many more) brands are quite disappointing). And though this Hefe-Weizen may not be as well-known as a Paulaner or Franziskaner... It’s still remarkably nice! Hazy appearance as in a usual weissbier, good frothy head that helps the maintenance after the pooring (always in a tall hefe-weizen glass!!) Distelhäuser is of medium/heavy sweetness, with some banana and cloves tastes but not too much. Average carbonation, maybe too little for my preferences, and that could be the only bad thing I’d say about this beer! Prost!

BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before 02/2012, drank on 31/01/2012, one day left then! Poured into one of my ’Franziskaner’ weissbier glasses: managed to get the whole bottle in and still produced a magnificent head of foaming white bubbles. Fairly pale orange body, hazy/misty more than cloudy and with a host of bubbles rising to join their mates in the head. The smell was of sweet yeasts (if there are such things?) and not much else, I do have a heavy cold though, so not at my best for aromas currently. The taste doesn’t have that strong hefeweizen vanilla/banana kick I like, this is more subtle and the yeasty flavours impart very little else but yeasty flavours. It is a bit citrusy sour compared to the smell as well. Uncomplicated and a little boring when considered with most beers of this style I’ve tasted: disappointed. I had to find some nuts to help me finish the beer off, a sign that it wasn’t good enough to drink on its once I’m afraid.

(bottle) Cloudy, orange-golden colour with a tall and slightly off-white foamy head. Yeasty, banana-fruity aroma with phenolic spices and present wheaty notes. Slightly sour and delicately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a sparkling carbonation. Fruity and wheat-malty taste with hints of apricots, citrus and banana; sour-wheaty and fruity finish with a slightly tart aftertaste. 07.I.12

500 ml bottle in Germany. Hazy orange with nice white head and moderate foam. Strong banana aroma with some lemon. Lots of malt. slightly sweet for style but well with in limits. Ppalate is a dream for a Hefe. Overall a great hefe that finished well.

A fruity aroma, plenty of banana. The beer is light, fruity, just a bit weakish, but really another good German hefe.

Bottled. Hazy yellow colour, mediumsized white creamy/fluffy head. Aroma is wheat, herbs, earth, some fruits as well as mild wooden notes. Flavour is rather citrus fruity along with wheat, some bready malts as well as yeasty. Not all that sweet, but still a very refreshing one.

It’s unclear golden with a creamy, white head. The aroma has notes of butterscotch, wheat and banana. The flavour is sweet with notes of butterscotch, banana, light clove/yeast, and while still cold also hints of smoke. The finish is slightly dry.
