Ratskeller restaurant, Würzburg. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is sparkling clear light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with a light note of metal. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly metallic. The suggestion of metal in the nose appears in the finish, but otherwise this is a nice, bright north German style pils.

This beer has obviously changed in recent years due to a slightly warmer fermentation temperature. It still is pale golden with a somewhat fruity (apricot-like) malt aroma and an intense herbal hoppyness in the nose, light to medium body, crispy carbonation. Well-balanced malt and hops character; dry bitter and hoppy finish

Draught Fully clear pale Pilsner, golden, with a good off-white head, leaving very good lace. CO², grass, very fresh and fine hops. Slight hoppiness in the taste, a lot of vanilla (CO² related), ending on creamy-vanilla. Creamy MF, light but nowhere empty. Good Pilsner, even great unfiltered (probe from the lagering tank, not rated).

Bottle: Straw golden coloured, medium-sized white head, that quickly diminishes to a stable creamy layer, visible carbonation; gentle sweet-malty nose combined with a grassy, hoppy touch, light to medium bodied, very creamy MF, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; dry bitter-aromatic hoppy finish with a distinctive malty aftertaste. A pleasant, well rounded Pilsener..........

Bottled. A straw coloured beer with white bubbles around the rim and a puddle of a head. The aroma is grassy hops and a little buttery malt. Quite thin, but at least there’s some charcter. The tste is fairly crisp with some decent hop bitterness, but there’s a bit of an aftertaste of paper. Acceptable but no more.
