3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 jeffin7 (610) - Silver Spring, USA - MAR 2, 2005
Pours a orangish gold. Aroma of rock candy, hay, and a mild citrus. Flavor is rock candy, hay, mild horseblanket, mild citrus, some light fruits. Alcohol was very well hidden. Was very drinkable for the gravity. Very solid triple.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 sarahmarie (254) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 24, 2010
Had this on cask at Churckey in DC. Starts with a fruity citrus and yeasty aroma. The taste is light and tart with flavors of apple or pineapple. The finish is yeasty with a hoppy dryness. I like to imagine a hefe with sour apple flavor mixed in.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 scraff (2120) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 21, 2010
Draft - 11%. Clear amber, creamy off white head. Thick citric-floral aromas warm to a fruity-pine and yeasty undertone. Deep hop flavors and swirls of booze round to Belgian fruity yeast-like finish. Full bodied,, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. This batch screams more Belgian D-IPA (American Hopped) than your standard tripel. Definitely a winner here...
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 haddon90 (1225) - Tustin, California, USA - MAR 3, 2009
Draft. Golden orange color with a lightly lasting white head. Nice, sweet aroma with some malt and a hint of citrus. Spice in the flavor. Honey and yeast as well. Not too bad. A nice change from the normal drafts they normally have.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 SamGamgee (2452) - down the whirlpool, California, USA - FEB 17, 2009
Draught at the brewery. The chalkboard said that this batch said it was only 7.6% abv, and I should have written down the OG that they had listed because this beer was so under-attenuated that it probably could have been the same recipe as when it was 11.5%. Golden orange color with a lasting white head. An almost funky yeast character in the aroma, with a strongly sweet honey and malt character as well. Just a bit of herbal flowery hops provide another dimension. The flavor is just horribly sweet and so far from a tripel. Just cloying, syrupy sugar and honey with a light herbal hop flavor but almost no bitterness. Medium-full bodied, syrupy and sticky. This was sweeter than a coke, and unless you’re into that sort of thing, not an easy beer to finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jgb9348 (3494) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 17, 2009
Hazy straw coloured body with a nice frothy white head. Aroma of coriander seed, curacao, wheat, hay and a plentiful amount of sugars. Full-bodied; Strong wheatie and yeastie tastes throughout with a good orange and citrus flavours. Aftertaste shows a ton of spices, the yeast of a few barrels and a good complex fruity flavour. Overall, a very good tripel, definitely one of the nicer brewpub versions, especially here in Washginton. I sampled this beer on draught as a sampler at the Shirlington Oktoberfest in Arlington, Virginia on 07 October 2006.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blank (997) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - FEB 21, 2005
a think cloudy orange color. my stuffed noise couldn’t get alot of aroma, but the flavor with sweet and citrus. too boozy though...
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 bombshelter (349) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 14, 2005
from tap at RFD strong beer tasting. notes: appearance: cloudy, medium amber. aroma: very yeasty, banana and estery notes. taste: huge malty, sweet finish, with a bit of funk, and ample evidence of the alcohol content.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 argo0 (9226) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 10, 2005
Minimal off-white head and cloudy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, herbal, candi sugar, light orange, pepper. Taste is medium sweet, herbal, candi sugar, orange, some pepper, alcohol. Full body, some stickiness, light acidity. A bit strong for the style, and lacks the dryness in that you expect in the finish, but enjoyable nonetheless.
