WillieV (158), Maryland, USA Aug 14, 2008 Poured a dark brown almost black color with little to no head. Great stout with a kick of alot of alcohol at the end. LooseCannon (635), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Aug 12, 2008 Cask at the brewpub. Pours pitch black in color with full foamy brown head. Aroma chocolate, coffee and malt. Taste bourbon, chocolate, roasted malty and coffee with bitter finish and alcohol warming. Sammy (3023), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 30, 2008 Enjoyed on cask, the perfect presentation the brewer says, at the brewpub. The aroma is tremendous, but otherwise I enjoyed the stout as it were without the corn alcohol. It is not as black as the regular oatmeal. It is dark with material carbonation bubbles. Served at just below room temperature. Too much bourbon there to be great. Roasted coffee. puzzl (1715), New York, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Typical that this would be the highest rated beer from a brewpub. And typical that it absolutely sucks. Easily the worst beer of the night. Overwhelmingly bourbon in both flavor and aroma. Body is thin. None of this is any surprise considering they are trying to bourbon age a SIX PERCENT OATMEAL STOUT. A total mess. This is the equivalent of throwing a shot of Jack into a pint of Guinness. JoeMcPhee (3671), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jun 14, 2008 Served from a cask. Dark black with a fast-fading head. Aroma is absolutely loaded with bourbon. Sweet cocoa, vanilla, hot bourbony sweetness/caramel and loads of oakiness as well. Peppery and spicy smelling as well. Flavour is completely flat and lifeless. Thin acidic malts are clobbered by hot boozy bourbon and oak. The soft fruitiness that was so appealing in the oatmeal stout is gone and replaced with a slightly salty, briny base that tastes like dirty dishwater. While it smells nice enough, it pretty much borders on undrinkable.
