Sammy (3023), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 2, 2008 Grapefruit colour with white head, white lace. Lots of creaminess. Appropriate significant carbonation, carbonation bubbles. Fairly high IBU, and a good bitterness. Smooth drinker. acrdz (4248), Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2008 Pint @ the Chophouse. Inviting, fresh citrus hop nose - notes of pineapple, lemon, oranges, some small amount of pine as well. Nice. Flavor is somewhat brash and rough, but not to make it sound like it’s thick and coarse, rather the carbonation is somewhat overdone and it comes off very detached from the flavors. If this were on hand-pull I think it would gain a lot of favor, because it does have some nice and soft orange and pineapple hop flavors, medium bitterness, and little to no flaws. puzzl (1715), New York, New York, USA Jun 19, 2008 Wow! Best brewpub beer I had in DC by a wide margin. There is an absolute blast of grapefruit in the aroma so rich and defined that it reminded me of the first time I smelled a double IPA. Tons of tropical fruit with no malt balance at all -- just how I like it. Body is a bit thin and odd but the fruit still comes though. Wish I had skipped the sampler and just done a pint of this. beaconstreet (810), Washington DC, USA Nov 13, 2006 I believe the same thing as the HopTastic or HopPocket or HopPalicious or whatever it was they were selling as the chalkboard pale ale. Slightly spicy, light light brown. (Caveat: this may be a different beer.) Ungstrup (11031), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 7, 2006 An orange beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is very lightly hoppy - not enough power for my liking. The flavor is sweet with a crisp maltiness combined with fruity notes of oranges and a bit of grapefruit, leading to a bitter fruity end. OK for a British IPA, but it is not American in style - too light.
