2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 savnac (1482) - Anchorage, USA - NOV 3, 2009
On tap @ the Chophouse. On nitro, really?!? First off a horrible pour by the bartender. Amber/brown with a huge dense creamy beige head. Very mild aroma of bread. Sweet and malty with faint bitterness. The nitro added a nice creaminess to this but the beer was just ok to begin with.

Draft at GABF. Finally, a DC tick. Pours standard copper with a fluffy white head. Nose is soft bready malts and faint noble hops. Nothing really too stimulating. Some goes for the taste, generic munich notes with a crispness to it that keeps it refreshing. Still, I had a ton of O-fests at GABF and this was one of the least memorable. Okay.

Copper coloured body with a light amber glow and a thin tan head. Aroma of nuts, caramel and some minor spices. Medium-bodied; Assertive malt in the flavour with some lighter german tasting hops and some subtle sweetness and a more pronounced spiciness. Aftertaste shows some spices, but mainly malty tastes that leave the mouth fairly dry. Overall, a good marzen with a touch of spices and some minor sweetness. A nice beer and worth trying if you are in the area when its available. I sampled this beer on draught in October 2009 at the brewpub.

Tap. Deep reddish-copper color. Bright white head. Flavor is odd, a bit off. Aroma of fruity toasted malt. A bit of bubblegum, a touch of black pepper. All in a good way. Flavor has a rich malty backbone. Followed by an herbal / medicinal hop. Very rich, full bodied. 26 Oct 09.
