3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 mgermani (936) - Vancouver, - FEB 28, 2009
Enjoyed on-cask. Pours a sligtly hazy red with tiny loose-bubbled head with no retention. Sweet artificial strawberry aroma. Lovely bitterness, light nutty character. Hops, peanuts, astringent. Nice! Crisp body, light carbonation. I really like the light toasty/nutty character and bitterness of this bitter. Well done!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 26, 2008
Carmel malts are well balanced with floral, earthy hops. Clear deep golden body is topped by a decent and long lasting, fine bubbled white head that recedes to cover and coats the glass with lacing. Very strong bitterness yet it does not overwhelm the grainy and caramel malt character. Medium light body with pointy effervescence that engages the tongue. Very enjoyable. Sampled on cask at Dix Xmas Extreme Beer festival 2007.

Enjoyed at the downtown brewpub. The Seasonal with high IBU by the brewmaster, the hops continuously come at you and it feels more bitter later on, its the right carbonation. Medium bodied with amber tinge to its yellow and lace. You can smell the hops.

Hazy light amber colour with nice retaining head. Aroma was piney and citrus with nice bready malts. Starts off with a nice smooth bittering flavour well backed with adequate malt character. Finishes with a medium hop bite. Well made and effective.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 25, 2007
(Draught) Sampled at Dix X-mas Xtreme Caskival 2007. Pours a medium sized head with an orange body. Nose and flavour are tart with a smooth caramel base that comes across as mildly bland.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 16, 2007
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2007 Draught Fiery amber with slight haze. Aroma is caramel with a slight earthy accent, toffee notes and a touch of chocolate. Hoppy, earthy palate with moderate but insistent bitterness. This is accented by a subtle, stylish blend of malt characteristics (nutty, earthy, light chocolate, caramel) and minerally overtones. Finishes slightly overattenuated with some hoppy dryness and a dash of toastiness. Unfortunately, as the pint warms, the thinness really comes out, gutting the malt goodness right out of the beer and leaving a vaguely hoppy shell. Drink it quickly.
X-Mas Extreme Cask Golden-amber colour. Fair bit of diacetyl on the nose, along with caramel and earthy hops. Very appetizing bitterness, more restrained diacetyl on the palate. Tobaccoey, earthy hop notes. 4 3 7 3 13 = 3.0
