On draught as Helles Bock at the DIX BBQ & Brewery in downtown Vancouver, BC. Pours a clear golden pale colored brew with a fast dissolving white head that dissipates nearly clean. Aroma of golden grain malt, some white pepper, a hint of fruit and some floral hops. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors pretty much the same as aroma but a little more sweet. Finish is semi-sweet at first and then a crisp aftertaste with no aftertaste.

Sweet and grainy nose. Brilliantly clear golden body is topped by a shy white head that recedes rapidly to a constantly replenishing partial cover with scant lace. Flavour is quite sweet and grainy with a note of creamed corn. Light medium body is quite dry and has fairly assertive carbonation. On the menu simply as Helles Bock. Sampled on tap at the brewpub.

Slightly hazy copper-amber colour. Spicy, malty aroma is very appetizing. Body is slightly watery but the same clean maibock flavours are there - fresh bready malts and peppery alcohol. If only the body was a little heftier and I didn’t get that wateriness obscuring those flavours.

Copper-coloured beer with a thin off-white head. Faint caramel malt aroma with a light spicy hop aroma. Well-balanced and slightly bready. Spicy/earthy hop flavour with a bit of sweetness in here as well. Pretty good, but not spectacular.
