2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 fiulijn (10407) - Como, ITALY - AUG 3, 2008
Draught at the brewpub, as Dry Irish Stout, summer 2008, nitro Black color; creamy head. It has a very smooth mouthfeel, even if too thin, and some flavor of roasted malt. In the end, even if dry, there is an impression of liquorice. Too simple.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 probstblueribbon (1967) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 25, 2007

Aroma: Lots of French-roast coffee, some dark chocolate and cacao powder, licorice.
Palate: Medium body and carbonation – run-of-the-mill.
Flav.: Follows the nose well, off-dry with a slightly tart finish, very low bitterness and a little wood aftertaste.
Nothing spectacular, but drinkable.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 2, 2007
Mild chocolate with buttery undertones and some biscuity notes in the aroma. Almost black and close to opaque with a light tan head that recedes to a thin but lasting cover. Butterscotch flavour undercuts chocolate and roast with some green hops peeking through. Somewhat sharp, pointy carbonation is short-lived leaving a fairly slick and rather still medium body. Sampled on tap at the brewpub.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 11, 2007
The latest Dix Stout is 5%, so lighter than last spring’s. Near black colour. Lots of sweet malts, like a really industrial, mild molasses with light hints of roast and hops. Diacetyl underlies all this, especially in the slick mouthfeel but also in the way it obfuscates the roast and hops, which would otherwise be quite bright.
April 19, 2006: ?? Stout Very dark brown with toasty, nutty, slightly sour aroma. Big toasty, roasty flavour. Rich, nutty, bitter, delicious. Ar 7 Ap 4 F 8 P 4 O 16 = 3.9
