I always enjoyed Dixie beer, and it was only $3.99 a six pack (bottles) before Hurricane Katrina hit. The storm destroyed the brewery, which I had visited the month before. It’s sad to drive by the facility now, after so many years of passing by and seeing the workers doing their jobs. Well, Dixie was aged in cypress barrels which gave it a unique taste. It was usually cloudy and a bit sour, but was good and different. A more of an old time beer. Most people under 40 told me they hated it, but older folks said they liked it. The folks brewing it now, did a good job of sticking to the original recipe. RJT

Pale yellow with virtually no head. Very faint sweet aroma. Fairly sweet corn flavor. Syrupy texture. Watered down and rather bland.

A very clean, easy to drink light lager. Pours gold, lots of fizzy carbonation. Aroma is slightly dusty, slightly skunked, mild hops. Flavor has far too much adjunct (corn?), almost artificially sweet, no depth of character, fading to a grassy note with a very mild woody flavor at the very end. Not gross, but not good.
