Aroma of chocolate, caramel, molasses. Appearance is dark red/brown with light tan head. Flavor matches the nose; pretty generic all malt beer. Palate is bubbly and chewy. Just alright.

Big frothy head (though may have had something to do with my crap pour). Colour is dark for a lager and the palate is quite soft. Rich malt caramel are predominant.

Dark brown-to-black color. Black licorice, over carbonated. I agree with one of the other reviewers that it tastes like a generic brand cherry soda. Really disappointing.

Pour is deep bodied with color of dark cherry, prunes, black licorice, and tar. Taste is sweet, malty, with sugared prunes and that damn black licorice on the back burner. Also sneaking in there is some cherry cola. Not bad, an easy sipper at that, but nothing spectacular. Head dissapates rather quickly to a thin rim and then dissapears completely.

The pour is a clear dark amber with a small mocha head. Aroma is sweet malt, slightly smoky, roasted nuts. The body is medium, with a very soft and smooth palate. Flavors are nutty, cola, root beer, caramel, with a distant red berry acidity. The finish has just a faint touch of hops and and a bright woody and fruitiness developing. Style wise, it’s far from a traditional German Schwarz, but it is complex and well made. Underrated.

Pours a solid dark brown with ruby highlights when held to light, tightly bubbled white head displays moderate retention and lacing. Smells of caramel and toffee with a hint of chocolate and smoke. Little to no hop presence. Taste is mostly sweet dark sugars with maybe a hint of chocolate. Little to no hop flavor. Medium body and level of carbonation with a bubbly sweet mouthfeel. I remember trying this 15 years ago in Texas and hating it, basically my palette wasn’t ready for this. Now that it is ready I’m basically bored by this mediocre brew, not much has changed.

From notes: poured clear red-amber with a 1-finger, off-white head. Aroma was roasty and caramelly sweet. Medium-bodied, slightly on the thin side. Flavor was malty and caramelly sweet with a nutty note in the finish. Drinkable, but not a standout.
